How long has your Brother HL-5240 lasted

I've had mine now for over 3 years and it's still going strong with minor issues. I wonder what the record is. Of course, I understand it depends on how much you use it. Love to hear from you.

I had a 5140 that lasted nearly three years. There comes a point when replacing the drum is more costly than getting a new printer. I upgraded to a HL-5250 and have replaced the drum once in the three years I been using it.

I have a Brother 5140 and a 5150 that are both nearly 5 years old. I have replaced the drums on both units, but I don't replace it when the light comes on, I just reset it and keep going. I replace the drum when the print quality begins to suffer and also refill my own toner.

Also, I used generic drums without issue available from 30-40 dollars online from places such as this,

http://cgi.ebay.com/BROTHER-DR510-DR-510-DRUM-DCP-8040-MFC-8220-HL-5140-/350235019356?cmd=ViewItem&pt=BI_Toner&hash=item518ba2485c

I do expect at least one of the printers to survive long enough for me to finish off my time in this business, especially nowdays.

3 years and still going. Ignore the drum light. It doesn't know what it's talking about. Best way to tell is when you start to see shading on the paper.

3 1/2 yrs., bought a new one for $199 because it was cheaper than buying a new drum. 2nd tray works with the 5350

LD Products is now offering Brother Drums at a deep

discount. I just bought one that would have been $150 from Brother and I paid $45.00 from LD products. SCORE!!!!!

Not to mention the high yeild toner is an awesome value too!!!!

I print a lot and change out drums about 4 times per year.
