I spilled iced tea on my laptop.
Is there anything I can do to salvage it?

set it upside down? and let is air dry..not trying to be
funny, but that's would I would do. and make sure its turned off if it didn't already power down.
leave it alone for a few hours and then try turning it back on?

I did that for a few minutes. Then i read somewhere that it could further damage the computer.

The hair dryer has to be on a cool setting - you don't want to add melted plastic to your problems...

No. It was artificially sweetened.

Re: I spilled coffee on my laptop.
I did that with coffee with cream and sugar in it once. I did not know that it was sitting in a pool of coffee for a couple of days. We just let it dry for a couple of days and it worked. My daughter in law uses now a year later.

Sorry for the accident but, now Shoshana you should apply the same principles at home as I'm sure you do at signings...no beverages on the table.....

Which one should I get?
Are you talking about the backpack type or a bottle?

Re: Which one should I get?
The bottle is great if you are wandering the house or in the car; the waist pack or back pack style is great while exercising. BTW, WalMart does have a knock off product, but I have never used theirs. I do have the originals for kayaking so that my hands are free, but I use a bag that sits on the floor so that my hands are free and less weight higher on the boat (makes you tippy) or my back (too hot - something else to make me sweat, er, glow, as horses sweat, men perspire and women glow).
The choice is your needs being met.

As a frequent "grape juice" spiller, I turn it upsidedown and shake it 'til nothing comes out. Then I take a paper towel (S) and run the edges in beween the rows until nothing is picked up. Don't depress any keys until you are certain it is dry.

If you haven't already, pull the battery out.

Take out the battery and open the laptop and make sure that it can get air to it. Perhaps put it in front of a fan. This happened to my husbands last year and after about 6 hours it started working again. Good luck....may take a while!

I haven't turned it on yet. Waiting for my computer guru to give me the next step. In this hot and arid climate we don't have to wait a long time to dry it out, I don't think. Shoshana
