ND is persistent!
Called me twice while I was towards the end of a signing. Luckily I had their number on silent ring notification so I didn't even notice it. But the third time they called, my phone actually rang and I picked it up since the caller ID came up as "Unavailable". Sure enough it was them and asked me to do a signing. I told them I had another appointment for that time slot and that got them off my back!

Yes they are
I have a friend who got out of the notary signing business eight years ago. They somehow found his name in an old database. He says they've been calling him several times a week for about six months now. Instead of telling them he's no longer in the business (he might want to get back in someday), he tells them he's booked up. He's been booked up for six months straight but they still call week after week. How desperate is that?

Keep in mind the people who call you are just trying
to earn a living. You gotta know these people have a miserable job and have zero authority to offer a dime more. There's only so many people they can call before they start all over again. I would not want their job!

you are so right, I really do feel for the schedulers which is why I'm never rude or snappy with them. You always gotta be professional!

Re: Keep in mind the people who call you are just trying
I have two questions. If the "scheduler" is an employee of a title company or lending company, would you not agree they're being paid at least an hourly rate to make the phone calls (and even when they're not)?
And if the "scheduler" is a signing company, is it possible that they only offer a small portion of the fee they've agreed to be paid by the lender/title company so they can make more money?
I'm also "just trying to make a living," and although I remain cordial unless provoked, I have little sympathy. They are being paid to spend their time trying to get me to provide the service they can't, but that they've advertised is available. They're running their business to earn money. And so am I. Since I'm the only one seen by the customer who is actually paying for everything, I feel I should be treated as a partner, not as a bargain basement commodity.
Just had to vent.
