Printing pages
I just read Msg #333414 about how the packages are getting bigger. That brought me to a question I've had for a while.
I notice some companies (BofA/Countrywide being the worst) who include all the instruction pages to the title closer. This can be 30 or more pages which do not require action by me or the signing party.
Also, the instruction pages for the Tax forms...why are those included when to my knowledge no one ever even looks at them?
It seems to me that if I don't have to print copies of the title instructions (can't the title company exclude them from the package?) for the borrower, I'd be ahead on paper. Also, if whomever is sending the IRS forms could send just the part that IS the form and not all the extraneous instructions, that would be easier on several levels.
Can someone please enlighten me?

Sometimes you can call title and see if they do want you to print those pages for them. A lot of the title officers will tell you that it is not necessary as they have master copies of those instructions.

In my mind, it's not up to us to try to figure out what is necessary and what isn't. I have learned over time, things are done because it's important to somebody and that one somebody may be looking for the documents and may cause a problem for you if those docs are not there, as useless as they seem to us.
In the past when I was short of paper, I have excluded those docs you mentioned from the BO's copies and have also duplexed the BO's copies to save paper. But I would never do anything on the copies you send back ...... I really see no reason for not duplexing the BO's copies except if you make a mistake on the bank's copies, it could be a problem pulling a fresh doc from the BO's copies.

I print what they send....that's what my fee is for - printing the entire package twice, getting it signed and making sure it's returned in a timely manner.
Adequate fee structure will ensure an extra 30 pages is no big deal. Besides - I agree with the statement that it's not up to us to determine what's necessary and what's not - IMO my hiring party has sent me a package and they sent it all because THEY think it's necessary so it all gets printed, signed and returned.

The only thing I don't print for the borrowers is any instructions to ME. Sometimes within the pkg there are "sample" pages. I never print those for the borrower.

Agree with both Linda's
Well said...especially this: "Adequate fee structure will ensure an extra 30 pages is no big deal." AND ".......they sent it all because THEY think it's necessary so it all gets printed, signed and returned."
