Signing Agent
Good Morning, I am interested in becoming a Signing Agent. What is the best route to take?

Start by reading msg #33325 and go from there. n/m

The best route to take would be to avoid the profession for a few years. From what I read on here this is not a good time for Signing Agents. I would say, become a notary first, do a lot of general notary work and become really good at it, and then, if the market has improved, follow the instructions in message #33325 to get your signing agent career started.
DO NOT - I repeat - DO NOT become NNA "certified" or do any other such nonsense. It doesn't mean jack $hit.

P.S. if you want to be a "certified" NSA...
send me your check for $1,000.00. I will "certify" you.

I don't know that Robert should be giving advice. He is not in our profession as NSA's and is basing his OPINIONS on what he reads here. That being said, this is not a good time to try to get started in this business. I'm sure you have read about the "mortgage meltdown". Very seasoned pros are leaving the business because it is too tough to make any money at. We are experiencing lower & lower fees. Read 33325 & make your own decision. Good luck.

Agree with MW/VA - business is SO SLOW right now. May has been HORRIBLE for me.

It depends on where you are and the market being targeted by Lenders. It varies widely and by lender. It is unpredictable at best.
If you have another income source you won't have much of a problem but who really knows, it could change tomorrow.
read msg#33325 for understanding. Good luck!

Use the black button...

That is a little attorney trick I learned
Attorney: "So you said in your report that he is disabled?"
Doctor: "Well, the report doesn't provide a space to indicate those exact words, but yes, I believe he is disabled."
Attorney: "But your report does not say that he is disabled?"
Doctor: "Not this form, no. But..."
Attorney: "So you admit that the man is not disabled. Thank you, your honor"

I agree, but want to warn that some of the information in that thread is a bit dated. It really is a very tough time to try to break into this market. And even if you succeed at getting assignments, the pay and work aren't what they used to be... [And just in case there's any doubt, that's not a good thing. ]
