2 places at 1 Time and ATR

I had 2 places at 1 Time contact me to be a courrier for them, no notarization. I was to take papers to their client, have them sign and send back. They sent me a Marketing Consultant Agreement from ATR, by Associated Tax Inc. Which had no letter head and no address, no phone number. The contract the client was to sign had a place for me to sign as their Sales Rep. and also stated for me to make sure they understand the contract. There was also an automatic payment form for the client to fill out so they could deduct his money directly.
I was to send this back to ATR, which there was no address for them, only an email.
I checked them out on the net and only found really bad comments and the Feds had shut them down for blinking people out of their money. I called 2 places at 1 time and told her about my misgivings about this and it looked to me that if there was a lawsuit I would be the one responible for making sure he understood and that was not the agreement(I was to a courrier only, not their sales rep) sounds to me they are looking for a fall guy, us notaries.
She understood and had second thoughts herself but was only doing what her boss said to.
Have any of you had any dealing like this?

What are they selling? What type of business are they in?

2 places at 1 time appears to be a go between, like a signing company.
ATR is a tax relief company, like they advertise on TV. That's where this
guy saw them.

I've been getting calls from debt resolution companies, asking for me to go out and get a few docs signed. It's always the same spiel, "We work with a group of attorneys...". I have no interest in doing debt resolution or tax relief work. These companies want us to tell the borrower that we are their representative, not just a notary. (It's my understanding that there are laws in place that require a face-to-face meeting with the client - hence that's where we come in.) Way too much liability for the lowly notary IMHO. I'm staying away from all this stuff.

I'm with CopperheadVA!

Any caller who asks me to represent them is told "No" quickly.

"A group of attorneys" is a huge red flag. Countless times I have worked for attorneys' offices directly or indirectly, but paperwork with no address and no phone number?r RUN!

Lots of scams going on in these economic times. I don't

touch anything like this or debt resolution. Just like the loan mod app scams, I will end up being the only person these folks ever see & have direct contact with. Noooooo thanks!

I thought the loan modifications were on the up and up.

No problem with true loan mods. It's the loan mod

applications that required large upfront fees w/a promise of trying to find a lender to do a mod that are now illegal in most states. They key is the "upfront fees" that are to be collected.
If you do a search, there was a lot of discussion on this about six months back.
