2nd Notary on split signing

So, I get the docs from the first notary that signed the husband. What a mess. Docs aren't jogged, no clip to hold them together. Pages bent. But wait, it gets better.

Affidavits that called for Jurats, she put loose Acknowledgment certificates in that do not have additional information as to what they are attached to. Also, she put extra loose Acknowledgments in that were stamped and signed, because I think she didn't know if a Jurat or Acknowledgment were needed. No optional info on these extras, just threw them in.

Yikes! This was a CA notary in southern Cal

All fields have those who are lacking.

Mechanics, plumbers, surgeons all have those in their fields that shouldn't be there. The thing is that the skilled do their part and complete their jobs to the best of their ability and let the system deal with the lacking. Having said this no amount of venting will change anything, so do your part and let the system work.

sounds like the same notary that sent docs to me so I could sign the spouse. Every document that had Jurat verbiage had a loose acknowledgment behind it. eek! :-(

You have an advantage....you know who it is.

Do you think they would do it incorrectly if they know how to do it right? I would help them out because I would want someone to inform me if I made an error. Send me a p/m with the info, I'll help them.

I'll have to agree w/you. There are some people

out there that have been given the wrong information or just don't know what they don't know. As professionals, I think we have a certain amount of responsibility to aid those that are in error, especially when it is fact and not fiction.

What's the worst that can happen? The person will openly receive what you shared or totally reject it.

There's something worst.........

Knowing a person who is blindfolded walking towards the edge of a cliff and not warning them!

At the end of the day we all have to look in the mirror and say, I'm okay with what I see. IMO

I've always found the 2nd leg of a split signing to be more difficult. Actually thinking of upping my fee for all 2nd Notary on split signings by $25. You have to go through ALL the docs and generate identical acks and jurats, and each can vary. It's more time consuming, to me anyway, than simply printing out 2 sets of docs. I think the 2nd leg should ALWAYS get a little more money for their borrower's closing, but that's just my opinion.
