Another hilarious Nations Direct Tale!
Nations Direct wants me to do a closing 45 miles away on Thanksgiving morning for $40. Oh, they offered to "double" the fee since it is a holiday.
How funny is that?!

Did they laugh along with you?
Just can't help but wonder what goes through their mind when they're making those calls ...

I don't know if they are lowballed by their vendors, but their overhead must be very high (that's why they can't pay the notary) because they have too many people in scheduling, hand-holding, fax receiving, quality control, etc. They must pay 10 people for all the steps in just one signing. So they have to skimp on their payment to notaries.
Just my 2 cents and MHO.

It amazes me that they have staff that will work for them...
it reminds of me walking into a new job and you instantly know that this is NEVER going to work out. You work a couple of hours and then leave w/o any explanation. I just cant imagine that anyone would/could work under these conditions.
Honestly, I think that each time the schedulers get someone to accept their low ball offer they get a bonus. Kind of like "piece rate" in a shop....the more you produce the more you make. They probably get a "daily" bonus of sorts...they are way to cheap to pay them on an order basis. JMO

I suspect they hire people who have little to no experience in this industry and don't know any better. I'd bet they then feed them info to make them believe that $40 is good money, e.g. "for one hour's work..." It probably sounds like a whole lot more than the employees are being paid!

They might tell SAs this, but it is not true. At least not for the past signings they have accepted my fees. Listed on HUD for $160-$225, depending upon the signings.
Regardless, it's not my job to subsidize their poor business skills (or greed). They want to offer SAs $60 while they charge $160 or more to TC. $100 to make a few phone calls & send emails (the hand holding is their choice so I don't give them credit for having to pay their people for that crap). Give me a break!
Low ball nanny SS companies are not needed in this industry, IMO.

That's hysterical! They're so pathetic - can't imagine how they're still in business. I never even counter-offer their $40 fees anymore - I just tell them I'll put in their bid and if I'm interested I'll call them back. That's what they always say to me when I tell them my fee is $100. What a crack up company they are!
