Equifax Settlement Services - email received today:
Notice their NNA reference. I responded with my usual "California notary with FBI & DOJ background checks, please refer to CA SOS". Waiting for their response. =======================================
Dear Equifax Settlement Services (ESS) Notary,
As a vendor in our settlement services network, you play a vital role in providing a premier signing service to our lenders in order to successfully close all loans. We feel it is imperative that we provide our lenders with the security and comfort of knowing that the most qualified signing agents represent ESS at every closing.
Looking toward the future and growth of ESS, we will now require that all notaries have either undergone a background screening or are an approved member of the National Notary Association (NNA). Also, if you currently carry an E&O Insurance Policy, we would like to obtain the most current copy of your E&O Declaration Page at this time. This is not an ESS requirement, but providing this information may improve or sustain your vendor relationship with ESS.
We are asking that you click ONLY the link(s) below that pertain to your current signing agent status and follow the necessary steps:
Yes - I have either completed a background screening or I am an approved NNA signing agent.
No - I have not completed a background screening, and I am not an approved NNA signing agent.
Yes - I have an E&O Insurance Policy.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. We ask that you respond by December 3, 2010. If you have any questions, please contact Matt Morris, Equifax Settlement Services Vendor Management, at [e-mail address].

Received it today too. I'm signed up with them, but they never want to pay my very reasonable fee. They want their loans signed with e-docs for $65-$85. They've met my fee only once, and I think it was an emergency. They called with an ASAP closing, and an hour later I was sitting in front of borrower with docs. Borrower told me I was the third notary assigned to sign his file.
