Probably. But ...
Some jurisdictions are more fussy than others. So, if you accidentally stamp upside down, cross it out, initial the strike-through, and stamp again. OR, if possible, pull out the borrowers copy, have them re-sign and re-do the notarization.

To avoid this in the future, ....
,tape a large paper clip to front of your seal on the spot where you grip it. Your will feel it with your finger tips as you apply seal. If you don't feel the clip, then seal is "basackwards"

Great idea, my top cover occasionally comes off and I sometimes replace it upside down. Your suggestion will definitely stop that from happening.

It's valid, but it makes you look a little silly....
accidents happen though. I've done this myself. Like James noted, once the little top thing popped off and I put it back on the wrong way. Next time I used the seal, it was upside down. ooops.

I think everyone has done that at least once.
I too, marked the "up" side of my stamps to avoid doing that in the future.
