My comission expires today question
My old commission expires today 11/14/10. My new commision expires 11/14/14. I do have my new seal and I am ready to go. Today is 11/14/10 if I had a signing today (which I don't) which stamp would I need to use? The one with the experation date of 11/14/10 or 11/14/14.

If you commission expires today, it is valid today until midnight. Well, it is if you are in FL. Check your manual. I think you will find that you will use 11-14-10 seal

Also, check your commission - should have a
commencement date- or effective date (at least ours do...thank heavens...)

The new official notary seal will not be valid until the
effective date of the new notarial commission.
So, I use my stamp until midnight of its expiration date. Yours would be midnight of 11/14/10, and the new stamp starting on the 15th. jmho.

IT'S 11/15 somewhere in the world, I'd go with the new one! BTW don't forget to destroy the old one!

Thanks everyone. Oregon handbook does not say. If a commission expires and start on the same day, I like an overlap of A Commission to me. I am glad I did not have a signing today. However next time I renew my Commission there could easly be one.

Hope you're joking James - 'cause (s)he would not be signing "somewhere in the world", but in a particular state where the new stamp may not be effective until the old one is expired (like in CA).
