N3 Notary- My First SA job

I got my Notary Commission about a month ago, joined NNA, got insurance, the NNA books and am in the process of studying the ~500 page book on how to be a NSA. Haven't completed it yet, nor taken the test, but I hage put my name/info out on this site and a couple of others.

Got a call just now from N3 Notary/Portland OR and they offered me a signing right near my house! WooHoo!

Only problem was they offered me thirty bucks for a 21 page loan modification, pick up voided check and FedEx it back to them. I told them my minimum price was $100 and would they negotiate. He asked how many signings I have done, approximately, and I truthfully answered "none". He said he would ask about the fee of $100 and call me back if he can get approval.

After reading SC comments, it looks like I won't get a call back, nor will I be happy if I accept any sort of deal from N3.

BTW- if there is anyone in Southern NJ that wants to allow me to "tag along" for a signing, I would be willing to (for free, of course).

Looks to me like SC worked for you very well and saved you from grief. You do realize that SC is valuable because people rate these companies and write about them so that you and I don't have problems that they may have had. Which means, you and I need to give back by doing the same whenever we can.

So, this may not have been your big entry in one respect, but was valuable for you. Don't give up, market, market, market yourself to everyone else in SC via the links and hang in there.

At the risk of

catching the wrath. It costs $ to get any education and if N3 (whom I worked with when I first started) offered lets say $50.00 after negotiation for 21pages and near you I probably would have done that. A modification is a great vehicle to get your teeth cut on and I believe @ $100.00 for this was a bit too much to ask for just starting out.

the part about the voided check is a potential red flag ...

Scott, please do a search on here for both "loan mods" and "loan mod applications" so that you understand the difference between the two, and can make an informed choice for what you're willing to be involved in.
