National Fingerprint Co.
This Co. sends out what is essentially a self capturing fingerprint kit and they hire individual Notaries to go to their client's place of business and watch as the client captures their own prints with this kit and then the Notary returns the kit to the Co. The whole process takes roughly 20 minutes, he said, and pays $40. They call you initially to teach you how to use the kit first and they pay $10 for the time on the call, then the remaining $30 goes toward the actual appt. They do pay through paypal, but the fee is not negotiable. I've been contacted today about handling one of these early next week. I did a search on the company here, nothing came up. Have any of you ever heard of/done any work with them before? If so, how was the experience? Is it worth only $40 to do this? He needs an answer, he said, by early this afternoon so he can FedEx the kit to get here by Monday. I'm just wondering if it'll be worth my time....TIA

Forgot to mention, the Notary does not notarize anything in the process, just signs something that says that, yes, the prints captured belong to the client.

I've not done that particular thing but was hired to witness a client take a DNA test. Client had package.....nothing notarized, just signed a sheet or two stating I witnessed the event and then shipped the package. That was in 2007 and it paid $50.
If the request you received is local (within 10 miles), doesn't cut into your schedule with solid appts from longtime clients, and you'd like to give it a try to see what it's like, that would be cool. If you accept, let us know how it works out.

Thanks, Lisa, I haven't yet decided, but if I do, I'll let you know.
