New CA drivers licences issued Sept-2010+

I got a look at the new CA drivers license yesterday. The signature and date are "raised" so that you can feel the image. See link for photo of new look (ID card look new too, and under 21 cards have vertical format.

I like it. Let's hope this helps to deter fraud. Of course, at one time, it was employees at DMV that were giving out actual drivers license to friends, that couldn't otherwise qualify. Now, I can actually use my little ultra violet light with magnify glass. Smile

Thanks for the link, Sheila!

This takes getting used to. I would have been flummoxed out in the field, so to speak, trying to decipher this new license for the first time - which inicidentally, makes no sense to me other than it is clearly an attempt to reduce phony IDs. In any case, I find it interesting that they have the DOB listed twice, including across the chin in one of three pictures of the driver, I counted at least five bears, one butterfly and in the right top corner some marine mammal (I think), tons of squirllly stuff all over, etc. etc. The big change for us is that it's last name first now. I still trying to figure out what the DD is - other than the issue date (again) which is now on the bottom right.... (I also find it interesting that they used a very pretty young black female as their prototype driver instead of standard-issue middle-age white male ...)

Don't flame me for this response, but it cracks me up that CA (who is supposed to be broke) finds new ways to spend money! LOL

Do you know if they're putting an RFD chip in that DL?
