New Notary
Hi Everyone! I just received my notary and I would like to start closing some loans and making some money. Just wondering if anyone has an advice to give me on how to get some business. I am in the Chicagoland area. Any good companies I should contact? Any advice would help me. Thanks!!

Start with msg. 33325. There's an orange "search" button at
the top of the page. I can't say that this is a great time to try to get started in this biz. There are several experienced notaries who post here from Chicago. Remember, you are now competing for what biz is our there. Good luck.

I don't understand your statement that you "just received
your notary"... How did you receive him/her? Was this similar to a mail-order bride program? Mail-order notary?
Or did you mean "I received my notary commission?"
A notary is a person - a public official, actually. A public official is not something you usually receive.
Now "doing" a notary is a whole different story. I think most of us have never done notaries although I know some of my former female companions have "done" one particular notary a few times.

OMG Robert, a visual I so did not want! ANYWAY....welcome
new notary. Suggestions above are good, and in addition, visit my website, and get familiar with all of our new laws and regulations, PLUS really do read the IL notary handbook, if you haven't already....you can download from the IL Secretary of State's office.
I've got to say, you've picked a helluva site to announce your 'virginess', so bear with us ALL as we are nice then cruel, then sarcastic all at once. But most of us mean well!
Do you have any training in real estate loan transactions? If not, suggest you buy the training manual from this site, as its priceless.
Suggest also you get yourself an up and running website so you can be found by those needing a notary in your area, which I hope doesn't interfere with mine...he he he...jk...
Good luck to you, as you've entered a touch profession.

FlaNotary2 ......not too long ago you posted:
....."there have only been 17 courses ever approved by the governor's office, and mine is one of them. I am one of only 2 individuals in Florida who actually holds live classes, bla bla bla...."
Somehow, that very proud and bold statement now seems more ridiculous and totally has been overshadowed by your most recent post:
"Now "doing" a notary is a whole different story. I think most of us have never done notaries although I know some of my former female companions have "done" one particular notary a few times."
For someone who brags, boasts and pats their own back every second he can on this and other forums, you pretty much shot yourself in the foot with that immature post. As you continue to prove that you deserve NO respect from members of this forum and others, and further proves just how much you STILL lack any maturity. Whatever hope you had to be taken seriously or even respected as a professional, has been pretty much washed down the drain!
I strongly suggest, in the future if you have an "itch", then scratch it - BUT DO NOT let us all know about it! This is not myspace or FB, totally wrong forum IMO.
and you should apologize...

Nonsense
***further proves just how much you STILL lack any maturity.***
As one who is well past the Biblically allotted three score and ten, and who often employs precisely the same type of raw, personal humor, I gotta say -- take this out to the garden and spread it around as fertilizer, because that's the only place it would serve a useful function.
I don't know about immature, but dammit, I AM old, and if I think a post might evoke a chuckle or two in some quarters, I'm probably going to to toss it out. Including pointing out that The Platinum Blonde was also a signing agent, which meant, when doing notaries, double your pleasure, double your fun.
Just attribute that last to senility, if immaturity doesn't work.

lol...as a platinum blonde, your last attribute could be
misconstrued and taken quite personally, but because of your admitted senility, eh, no biggie.

Carri- I am surprised at you taking offense to Roberts post, considering your occasional and somewhat colorful and/or brazen posts!

She doesn't really take offense, she is just trying to find
some reason to whine about something.
