Printer

I have a Samsung Laser Printer ML2851ND uses toner very fast. Can you give any suggestion on printer that other Notaries are using.

For loan docs and other monochrome printing, I primarily use a Brother 5250-DNT. I don't believe that model is available anymore, but a lot of notaries here use Brother printers.

I also have a Samsung color laser printer (CLP-620ND) ... but I won't use it for loan docs. I only use that for times when I actually need color printing.

PS...

I beleive the most comparable successor to the model I have is now the HL-5370DWT.

Re: PS...

Brother 5250 DNT. Uses a lot of toner and drum replacements but so do the others. Workhorse and very reliable, plus inexpensive. Got mine for under 400.00

Re: PS...

I don't have the toner issues, really. I use the high-yield cartridges and I always print with toner saver turned on.

Marian, with toner saver turned on, is print dark enough?

On my HP if I check the "toner saver" box, print comes out quite light. I do this for personal use but not for printing loan docs.

It is for me... and I've never had anyone complain. I'd be happy to mail you a sample if you want.

I have 2 Brother HL 5370 printers with extra trays. They are wireless and I love them. Without the extra tray they are about $250. Check Ebay or Amazon for price on extra tray.

Current version is Brother HL-5370DWT (D= duplex, W=wireless or wired, T=lower or 2nd 250 sheet tray)
Current best price upon quick search is at PCconnection.com $229 with free shipping. Yes, I have bought from them before. Always best price to buy second tray Brother printers, not single tray and add 2nd tray.
No, I don't have any connection to Brother or PCconnections other than I'v had brother faxes and printers for 20 years. YMMV!!

Re: Printer Are you using too high a quality print level?

I use 300 dpi or dots per inch and the print quality for docs is fine, and this saves both toner and printing time.

IMO Brother printers are the most economical to operate.

I'm currently using a HL-5240 w/extra tray. It's an older model, was discontinued & I picked it up for under $100 about 6 months back. It's about the same as the HL-5250. You might try Ebay or some of the other sites to see if you can pick up an older model. Good luck.
