SORRY

I AM VERY NEW TO NOTARY ROTARY AND I AM VERY SORRY FOR THE POSTING Smile

'Twould help if you let us know the posting to which you refer.

Did you call me a name in it? Was it a name I had not heard before? Can I sue you for having called me that and collect lots of money?

And before someone else wastes their time doing so, let me point out that I know it is almost impossible to defame a lawyer.

Let me also point out, Tommy, that you are about to have several posters yell at you for yelling at them. Ignore them. They are the same posters who will delight in saying that it is impossible to slander either a lawyer or vulture. Well...it is possible to slander a vulture, but only by calling it a lawyer.

There is one other thing you can call a vulture that is slanderous, but if I tell you what it is, I'd have to move this to the Just Politics forum.

Hugh
She said she is NEW, she hasn't had the time to learn about you and call you a name yet!
Cut her some slack - from one old codger to another.

Welcome Tammy.

I think most posters figured that out after the first couple of posts, I'm sure you are forgiven. What Hugh is trying to tell you in his eloquent way is using all caps is considered yelling and hurts some our aging eyes. Hugh is the resident attorney, comic, liberal, and REALLY SMART guy!

Re: Welcome Tammy.

I do enjoy Hugh's posts. He is very eloquent, and I'll say semi-intelligent. He tends to lean WAY to the left, but I do enjoy the banter on our differing view points.
OMG, did I just compliment Hugh in 2 posts? I apologize.

Here is the REASON for her post today

She is commissioned in Tenn. and not Miss..as her profile reads which she posted on the discuss forum earlier this month and was chastised for advertising. It caught my eye. I called her hand (emailed her) on stating in the profile that she covered a county in MS. and the SOS called her and reminded her that she is not commissioned in MS. and to not advertise that she is. She responded to my email (probably after the SOS called her) by saying that she was sorry and that she did not know that she could not use her seal in MS.

Re: Here is the REASON for her post today

I really think she was referring to her multiple posts. I'm sure she was terribly embarrassed when she was called by the SOS, now you feel the need to make sure she is humiliated here too?

Don't think she is refering to multiple post since that

was a few weeks back. She is responding to the SOS and just as Hugh was wondering, what is the post about today. This is it. Ignorance CAN harm others. Our office is serious business. I am not trying to humiliate her, just clarifying the reason for the post as it makes no sense otherwise.

I thought that's what she was referring to

She said she's new to Notary Rotary and sorry about the posting...I thought she meant those advertising posts she'd done, obviously in error.

Why would she respond to the SOS here? And why apologize for a "post" when, in fact, it would be the advertising she's apologizing for.

Maybe we need to hear from her.

The SOS called Tammy sometime this a.m. to tell her not

to notarize in MS. since she is not commissioned in MS. Maybe that is why Tammy posted here to apologize for advertising that she covered a county here when in fact she cannot do so. Don't know for sure. Maybe she will respond to this.

Donna, one more thing. I had no intentions of exposing her

on NR.as I dealt with her privately and nicely. She is the one who posted an apology without explanation which I would have to believe is related to her saying that she could cover a county in MS.. Which is more important? Her embarrassment or MS. venues accompanied by a TN seal?

Re: Donna, one more thing. I had no intentions of exposing her

I don't fault you for letting her know that she can only notarize in her state, that was certainly the proper thing to do. Whoever notified her SOS was correct as well.
Still, it should have been kept private, JMO.

"I had not intention of exposing her on NR". Then why did

you? IMO if you handled this "privately & nicely" as you say, then why didn't you keep it that way? There's no need for public humiliation over a mistake. You've indicated that you informed the SOS & they dealt with her. IMO that all should have been kept confidential.

I can't help but wonder how many times she crossed the

border into MS. using her TN. stamp if she did not know that it is unlawful to cover another state without a commission from that state.

Re: Tammy, begin by reading #33325

I think after everyone figured out what was going on, we could see that it was an innocent mistake. You deserve praise for taking the initiative to begin to market yourself to title companies and signing services. i sent you an email that day, letting you know the thing to do is to go on a company's website then follow instructions for signing up with them. Also make sure you check your grammar and spelling. Update your profile regularly and by all means use this board for all that it is worth.

Best of luck to you!

Tammy, kudos to you for coming on here to apologize for whatever the reason you decided to do so. It takes guts to admit a mistake under any circumstances. [And it takes guts to make it in this business, so there's a point in your favor.] It also takes time to learn the lay of the land, so to speak, on this board. But it's certainly worth the effort, imho!!

I suppose you could think of it this way: navigating the sometimes rough waters on this board can help you develop a two-inch thick skin, which will come in very handy with some of the "stuff" we have to put up with from borrowers, signing services ("ss"), loan officers ("LO's"), title companies, etc., etc., etc. Wink

Best of luck to you!
