What do you do?

What do you do if you arrive at the borrower's home and one of them has been drinking. You can see beer cans and smell alcohol on his breath?

Ask to reschedule to a more convenient (sober) time.

You do your job. If you determine that the signers are impaired to the point of not being able to understand what they are signing, then it's your responsibility to stop the proceedings. Call your hiring party and explain the situation, but don't be bullied or intimidated into doing something you know is wrong.

I agree with Roger everyone has their limitation on how my booze they can handle and still be aware of what they are signing. I'd ask questions and if I don't like the answers cease the closing for a better time.

First of all I have a beer now and then, that doesn't make me drunk or unable to think or reason. Just do your job, the same job you've been doing for years. Listen to what is said, observe your BO's, use your own common sense. Don't get "drunk with power" (sorry, couldn't resist) just do your job. Willing, aware, able....I'm sure you of all people know when to leave and when to stay. My neighbor drinks beer, he must have a bazillion cans smashed up in plastic bags waiting to go to the aluminum vendor, they're all over his house in various stages of "smash"...does that make him drunk and unable to comprehend? Again, this is common sense and ones own ability to LISTEN.

Okay, that's just gross!

"My neighbor drinks beer, he must have a bazillion cans smashed up in plastic bags waiting to go to the aluminum vendor, they're all over his house in various stages of "smash"...does that make him drunk and unable to comprehend?"

Well, yeah, I think he's an alchy and a slob from what you described...glad I don't live next door to him.

Tell me Sue, do you also find that wonderful pugnant aroma of 'ode of beer', aluminating? (pun intended) Wink

OK Cari, I "may" have over estimated the amount

He smashes them up and puts them in these heavy black bags (only I know what's in there) roflmao and then he puts the bags in his storage shed. It takes him awhile to get enough to amount to anything BUT he and his wife usually have enough to pay their car insurance and home owners insurance. They're good QUIET kids, I've lived near tea drinkers that made me tear my hair out. I was just trying to make a point that not everything is as it "appears".

Pssttt....it's the Holidays, wrap that judgement thing up in a pretty package with a bright bow and leave it on someone's door step. ~wink, clink~
