debt settlement-law group

I had a call by a co I have done alot of work for so took this job too. Was leery though...
it was to take about 25 pages to clients and introduce myself as a representative for this law group, (didn't agree with that)...then found out I was to explain this whole debt settlement process to them and have them sign the docs. Was only supposed to be 20-30 mins. was 2 HOURS because they had questions and we called and called their rep for answers. Ended up they did not like the idea and did not sign the docs. Is anyone doing these appointments and what do you think of them?

I won't..and this is why

"take about 25 pages to clients and introduce myself as a representative for this law group, (didn't agree with that)...then found out I was to explain this whole debt settlement process to them "

Not a company rep and am not interested in "selling" their "product"

Re: I won't..and this is why

Besides the highly questionable representation of being their rep... I believe that your experience (2 hours/many calls/no go anyway) is going to be the most typical end to these assignments. I, also, have no interest in being associated with these types of...uh...'operations'.

I also received a call from one of those companies. The person I spoke with was almost trying to force this thing down my throat and stated they had an immediate job within the area I cover. I must have told her over and over that I didn't want to get involved with debt settlement companies before she got the hint. Sounds to me like they are having a lot of difficulty getting any of us to work for them. By the way, she called another once or twice and also sent the debt collection assignment by e-mail to me. It just sounds like something that I don't want to get involved in.

I am so glad to hear others feel the same way I do. Thank you for your insight. The co that called me said there are "hundreds" of these in my area and it is a "great thing" for notaries. Easy money...

The company's are going to put a lot of pressure on existing signing agents to take this work. Whenever, I am asked to take these, I ask myself two questions. Is this deal going to be positive to all parties? and Will this deal enhance my reputation and give me long term positive benefits? If the answer to either of these questions is no, I will turn it down flat.

Sounds like we'd be on the top of the list when the lawsuits hit. I big "NO THANKS" for me.

What Susan meant to say was...

She wouldn't pet that dog with a 10 foot pole.
