I feel your pain. These companies COMPLETELY take advantage of us being the low man on the totem pole. I've had to cancel closings for this reason, then they get mad. YOU were two hours late and were unreachable, not me.

And being unable to get ahold of someone after closing time isn't your fault nor your problem, not to sound like I'm passing the buck, but you can only do so much.

Re: goooood grief....... Here's a new idea!!!!

I just had a light bulb moment... Here's what I think is a great idea for a new training program for XYZ to offer to NSAs that would probably be an actual win/win for us all. Maybe they could arrange a joint venture with Hogwarts!!?!!! After all, our clients already seem to think that a magic wand is part of our standard equipment, right?

All in favor??

Aye

Can we get a broomstick for bypassing traffic & ignoring speed limits, too? Ya' think?

It's an individual choice when to pull the plug.

I have found when it runs this long over it usually doesn't go anyway. I'll go with the flow, as long as I have nothing better to do, but they'd probably be testing my limits at 5 hours past the signing time.

Re: Taking advantage of holiday? my guess.

If you'd give them a deadline for receipt of docs, you wouldn't be an edoc hostage. I guess it's a personal choice how long you want to waste waiting on docs that may or may not come.

Re: Taking advantage of holiday? my guess.

I have a deadline for doc receipt, but if I'm not scheduled for anything else then the waiting is no big deal for me (well, it's aggravating, but I deal with it)...however, I *DO* have a limit as to how late I'll start a signing - and that's 8:30pm.....if I can't start a signing by 8:30pm then I don't want it - starting at 8:30 gets me home by 10:00-10:30 at the earliest as it is, even later if it's farther out....that's more than late enough for me.

Sometimes you have to manage your time efficiently

If you had no other closings and want to wait for docs, that is your choice. If you have other closings, then you simply give them a cut off time of when you can receive docs. If they don't meet that time, you say, "Thanks, I have to go to my other closings, can push this one back to X time, provided I have full docs by X time"

I always give my title clients a time by when they have to have docs for any of our closers when taking the file, which is normally 2-3 hrs minimum prior to closing based on the location from the closers' office.

If the doc receipt time cannot be met by the client and the closer has to leave for other closings, we simply give the client the option of postponing the closing for the day or pushing the closing back to a later time that day. If the original closer is already booked, then we go to Plan B of getting an alternative closer.

My thoughts are no closer should be late to their other closings because the client did not meet the contracted time for receipt of docs.

Your time is your money - just think of it that way - if you have the luxury of waiting around for docs, don't stress. If you don't have that luxury, then simply give them a cut off time or a push back time you'd be available to do it later.
