I believe you need something in the 5000, 5100,5200,5300 series and above or 8000 series multi-function and above to attach a second tray. FYI, it's usually MUCH cheaper to buy the printer and extra tray combo package than to buy the printer and 2nd tray separately. Also, do not fear Brother refub units. Brother stands behind them and they usually come with the same 1 year mfg, waranty as a "new" unit. In many cases they've only been pulled off the assembly line for quality control, but cannot be sold as full "new" units. That being said, the 2170 is an excellent HOME printer, or low cost backup printer, just realize its limitations for our business.
