Does anyone else have this problem with their Blackberry

When I delete an email on my bb, sometimes it sends it to trash instead of just keeping it in the inbox and marking it read. Doesn't do it all the time, but most of the time. I don't understand why. Any thoughts?

I don't have a Blackberry, but want one. But, am I missing something here? If you delete a message isn't it supposed to go to trash? If you mark it as read, then it would be marked as read and not deleted. Deleted is deleted, isn't it?

You would think when you delete it, it would go to trash, I agree. But.... sometimes it doesn't. When I log onto my computer, some of the deleted emails are still in the inbox and some went to trash. Its weird. I have to go back and forth from trash to inbox to find some things. Kind of frustrating.

This depends on if you delete it from the handheld or the handheld AND the server. There's a difference.

You should be able to set your default settings for this. While looking at your list of emails:

1. Select the BB key, then Options.
2. Pick 'Email Reconciliation'
3. For each email address you have, choose the option you want under "Delete On:"

For me, I have "Prompt" selected because I want the option depending on the account/message. With this option, if you want to delete it from both your BB and the server (so it doesn't download elsewhere), select "DEL +M". If you just want to delete it from your handheld, you select "DEL + H".

But if you select "Mailbox and Handheld" then when you delete message on your BB from that account, it will delete from the server, too.

If you use Outlook, for example... and provided Outlook hasn't already downloaded the email, it will delete the email completely from your server...won't just send it to "trash".

Re: I have a BB

You have 2 options. "Delete message on mail box and handheld" or "on handheld". Hope that helps.
