Edward M. "Toby" Buttimer, Jr. - GA/Atty
On Monday, September 27, we lost a valued Notary Rotary member to a tragic traffic accident. Edward "Toby" Buttimer, Jr. (GA/Atty) was a prolific poster on both the Discuss Work and Just Politics forums, logging 750+ messages.
His advice and commentary was always professional, knowledgeable, helpful and civil, and his input will be greatly missed by the Notary Rotary community. Our collective thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and associates.
In his memory, and in recognition of his contributions to our online family at Notary Rotary, we are contributing $281.00 to the Toby Buttimer Memorial Scholarship Fund, representing all membership fees paid by Toby to Notary Rotary.
More information about this tragedy, including links to a news story and his guestbook, can be found in the following threads:

Another "Thank You" for the gesture - and the flowers on the page. That caught my eye immediately and I was truly saddened at our loss as well as the Buttimer family loss.
Ed was a great presence, droll and fun. His constant $125 was shattered by one of his last posts of $200 - I really had no choice but to notice his departure from his norm, laughing while startled. Ed - you will be missed. RIP.

Harry - wonderful gesture....any chance
We can add to that contribution? I'd be happy to make a donation to be added to that and to be given collectively from the NotRot membership..
Just a thought.

I forgot to say, Thank You, Harry, a generous and warm gesture on your part. I am completely shocked by the news of Toby's passing and tragic circumstances of his passing...when things like this occur, you realize how much your community means to you. We are family and these events are sobering. Rest in peace, Toby, you will be greatly missed here.

Re:A PARABLE OF IMMORTALITY
by Henry van Dyke
I am standing by the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength, and I stand and watch until at last she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sun and sky come down to mingle with each other.
Then someone at my side says, 'There she goes! Gone where? Gone from my sight - that is all.
She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and just as able to bear her load of living freight to the places of destination. Her diminished size is in me, not in her.
And just at the moment when someone at my side says, 'There she goes! ' , there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout : 'Here she comes!'
``````` I close my eyes and send a prayer; to his loved ones...pray that they are gently guided through their grief one minute at a time. Irm
