FASS - downloading USAA docs

Yesterday I had two for First American Title with USAA as the lender. The docs were posted to the website, but took so long to download that I didn't think they were there. I had absolutely no luck getting anybody on the phone or email and at one point I thought I was going to have to cancel one of the signings. They finally loaded after probably about 15 minutes. Has anybody run into this? Any advice would be appreciated in case I run into this in the future.

I should mention that I have a new 2010 desktop computer, so it should be able to handle a large file.

YES! Last signing with FirstAm was the exact same way. Mine took so long I broke down and had Kinkos print them.

Glad it wasn't just me, but sorry it happened to you, too.

Same here and not necessarily with just USAA docs.

At first, I thought it was my system. But looking here, it seems to be theirs.

I find that their system is terribly slow these days. It takes forever to get into inbox and then into the individual fass number. It is their system problem.

Glad it's not just me...I wonder if anyone

has talked to them about it? I was trying to get my husband to print them off while I was at another signing, but he got completely frustrated. Not being able to get any help just made matters worse. I will give them a call tomorrow when the rush is over and see if there is anything that can be done about it.

Re: Glad it's not just me...I wonder if anyone

It's happened to me. I had to cancel a closing. I told them they seem to have a virus! They said it's my adobe reader being above adobe 6 or something like that. The borrowers were livid that I had to cancel and I got the butt chewing for it. Had the same problem with another company. It's just easier if they email the docs straight to us imho.

so youre saying that if you have a more recent version

of Adobe (mine is Adobe 9) than it won't download? Ridiculous! They should update THEIR system.

What I Do

.......is just save the document onto my hardrive and print from there. Not sure whether it's faster since every once in a while it takes forever to print, but it does prevent any Adobe issues since I'm working from an Adobe 9 versus 6.

I did ask FASS about e-mailing documents directly instead of posting on the website. They said they cannot do that because of "security reasons." However, sometimes they do send them directly. Go figure.

Just another Pita with them and another reason why I don't

work for them anymore. Everything is a pain with them.

Re: What I Do

The documents from their Florida office are mostly emailed, and FASS will email me the documents if I call and report that the documents did not upload properly.

I've gotten docs directly, especially when doing a

last minute closing....I do the same Kay. It does take a while to print, but its faster to download onto the computer than to wait and print from their system.

How would you go about doing that?

All they have is a 'click here to view package' button.

Slow Printing

Sometimes the docs are scanned in a very high resolution, which will slow down your printer if you don't have a lot a printer memory. Here's hint, in your printer set up, set the print resolution to 'Draft' and you'll print much faster. Test is out first and see if there is a visible difference in print quality. I print almost all docs in draft and you'll use less toner as well.
