KC Signings - Clearwater FL is the company that gave
our email address out to Debt Relief. I am not too happy. Yes, Debt Relief has access to our emails but too lazy to do the work themselves. I wonder what they paid KC to provide a list for them. I also wonder what else they would share with them if they had it.

I just spoke with Kris also. I was surprised. He told me that Debt Relief is owned & operated by one of his tc clients, and he was trying to help them out. He feels it's legit & thought some notaries might be looking for other lines of work right now. I do believe he meant no harm. He also had no idea that they were going to use his name & has had to deal with emails & calls all morning. What a nightmare!

though his intentions may have been good, it backfired.
In this day and age where identity theft is much easier to do and get away with, companies like this MUST be extremely careful and very diligent in protecting any data collected from their registered clients.
There are express licenses and private list disclosures that really should be included in terms of conditions, that tell us specifically what the website intends to do with our information.
IMO, we all need to be better protected from those that distribute our data to third party entities, who may be disguised or owned by malicious hackers, spammers, etc.

Seriously Linda, I'm with you on this...this is not good at
all. I think an email to them from folks here asking them NOT to fork over their email address and/or other personal data is important. Perhaps a bit too late, but better late than never for a paper trail that may lead up to a lawsuit.
This has me really pissed off to say the least!

I did provide this Debt Relief Company your email address only, and for no compensation. Your names, contact information, and emails are already available online here at Notary Rotary and I'm sure on many other websites. Don't you want more calls for work? Isn't that why you are on here? Linda & Mr Rivera, I would think if anything you would be thankful that I passed along your emails for more work for you. But if your not interested, that's fine. Just ignore the email, and move on with your day. There's also an opt out option at the bottom of that email. And if you just don't want any calls or emails for work let me know right now and I'll remove you from KC Signing's database as well.

In the future, please refrain from providing my information to any one. I'm flat out not interested. I think this line of business is terribly abused, and I want nothing to do with debt resolution services PERIOD.
I think this was a serious judgment error on your part and not in the best interest of notaries.

Ms. Killinger...why didn't you just refer that company here?
....and hmm, it appears you don't follow your own Privacy Policy....
"KC Signing does not sell, rent or lease its customer lists to third parties. KC Signing may, from time to time, contact you on behalf of external business partners about a particular offering that may be of interest to you. In those cases, your unique personally identifiable information (e-mail, name, address, telephone number) is not transferred to the third party. In addition, KC Signing may share data with trusted partners to help us perform statistical analysis, send you email or postal mail, provide customer support, or arrange for deliveries. All such third parties are prohibited from using your personal information except to provide these services to KC Signing, and they are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information."
**************************************************************************** The simple fact that our names, email address, phone numbers, etc., are on this and other public notary forums is totally irrelevant, you clearly violated your own privacy policies!?
By all means, remove me off of your list, can't trust a company that violates its own policies...geez!

While, we're on this subject, where do all the solicitations
for notary database companies come from? I'm sure they get our info from some of these sites, and I wouldn't think that the owners of the sites are giving them the info. We have our info out there for advertising purposes. I'm fortunate in that I don't get a lot of spam--have too many blocks for that too happen. It's easy to delete anything that comes through that I have no interest in. My .02

most everyone on here? I get the email, I do MY homework, and I decide if I want this offer or not. Maybe they shouldn't have Kris' name, but whatever. I will decide if I want the work or not. I spend time marketing every week, and a lot is based on what people say here. You don't want to be contacted, hide your information.

Kris' response & Notary Public - KEY WORD BEING PUBLIC !!!
I have no problem with someone giving my phone number and or email address to another company to solicit me for additional work. Kris stated all he gave was email addresses, so it's clarified and should be the end, somehow I am sure it will not be.
There is way more personal information out there on Notary Publics than what he offered thinking he was helping. Kris, give my contact information to as many as you like! If i am not already in your database PM me and I'll get my information to you.
This does bring up a valid point and it might be worth considering drafting a document to send to companies to sign off on, limiting how they might share information. THEN all the paranoid Notary Publics, can tell the companies that will not sign it to take them out of there databases.

Well put Larry, and thank you! As for your name in our database, I can't tell without having your last name. But if you did not receive the email from the debt consolidation company asking if you would be interested in doing work for them then you probably are not. Please register on our website: kcsigning com. If anyone else is interested in more work feel free to do the same.

I don't get involved in debt resolution work...
Yes call me paranoid but there's so many scammers out there it would be just my luck to get hooked up with a bad one...I, personally, don't see why they need to even call us and get us involved - send the paperwork to the clients with a detailed instruction letter and have them sign the docs and return them - easy peasy.
I was surprised to see the e-mail saying Kris from KC Signings provided my info - however, the way I see it is if the debt resolution company wanted to find someone in my area they only had to *GOOGLE* <<whatever county>> Florida notary and they'd have found me with far more info than just an e-mail address.
I appreciate the referrals also.

Kris.... Thanks. I'm OK with it, I'll delete as needed.
I just might be happy to work for them. Who knows? By the way, it is quite OK with me if you identify me as a Notary Public and give my email address to every title company, signing service, and other users of Notaries Public. I'll be happy to sort the chaff and eliminate those who don't do business in north Alabama! Roll Tide, y'all.............

With due respect to each of our opinions on this subject
and thankfully we live in a country where we can agree to disagree, I feel that this was not done in a malicious manner but makes my head swim with "What were they thinking"!!!!!!!!!
Previous Post....."He also had no idea that they were going to use his name & has had to deal with emails & calls all morning. What a nightmare!"
So, Kris says he had no idea they were going to use his name, which tells me that he too is upset and should be. He really meant to be left out of this venture with his friend, but the so-called friend brought him into it without his knowledge or permission. Which brings us to the very same thing that KC did to us. Kris brought us into this "Without" our permission. When things like this happen, the "trust" is broken. Kris's trust is broken with his friend and our trust is broken with KC. It will take time to rebuild this trust, as with any relationship. The old saying is what goes around, comes around.
There was no one harmed here, I know that. Our information is all over the net, where we all want it to be in order to be found for work. But, we are supposed to be able to trust the companies we work for not to just hand it out to every Tom, Dick and Harry that comes along. If KC had sent a mass email out to us suggesting this company for a possible working relationship or asking permission to add us to this company's database, it would have looked a lot more professional.
If a company cannot put the time, effort and expense into building a database of notaries like KC has, then what other corners are they cutting. There is no other word for it than LAZY and they don't have the resources in place to pay for it. Makes me very, very leary.

It's one of the major issues of the tech age. The question
of who owns the info? Federal law now requires many companies to address their privacy policies, and offers to opt out for marketing, etc. The internet is a whole other can of worms. I know some site owners feel it is their site. We participate voluntarily. Then there are sites like FB, which is known for a lot of security issues. IMO it's always best to choose what you say & where. Just my 1 1/2 cents.
