Paying a fee to register with an angency

Has anyone ever had to pay to register with any of the companies on our list? I have come accross 3 different that want a registration fee and was wondering if these fees are for 'real' companies or are these just a hoax?

Lets try that again,

If you are thinking on spending money with a signing agency to in order to get business, instead, invest some here

You will get the same amount of notary business in return, but you will also get a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that you are supporting America's Best.

Thanks, Glenn

.... for mentioning Wounded Warrior. This was Sylvia/FL's pet project - she makes monthly contributions to it and it was through her posts I found out about it. It's a great service and a great way to help returning vets and their families. By the way, I miss Sylvia and her posts with those sparkly pictures. If she reads this, maybe she'll send us a glittery pumpkin soon ...

Never pay an agency to be listed with them in hopes of getting work from them. If they have a job in your area, they will call you and use you, and you will get into their database for free that way. There are only three sites I pay to advertise on, and those sites are sites like this one where I am paying for an advertisement so that many different companies can find me - this site does not directly hire me for work. That's the difference.

You'd be throwing your money to the wind. WOUNDED WARRIOR project a way better investment and is tax deductible. A majority of my work comes from this board and two or three others I've been a member of for the past 10 years. I've never paid these fleeting companies who promise they will use you if your subscribe. Complete waste of money.

My policy is to Google the registry and see what reaction to them is; most of the comments are negative as to their exposure and length of time the domain has been existent.

Another approach is to Google whatever you think someone looking for your services would Google and see if they show up. If they can't be found on search engines, they aren't going to be doing you much good. BTW, I would try a variety of combinations of words and phrases and a variety of search engines. That pretty much tells the story. Lots of them will say that they market directly to the companies that hire us, but except for the few that others are referring to here, I don't put much stock in that. If I were an escrow officer looking for an NSA, I wouldn't manually input the URL for some unknown directory; I'd either Google it or go to a site that I already knew...

Paying a fee to register, on the other hand ...

it might make good business sense to register with certain signing agent directories, like NotRot premium status. There are only three others that consistently yield signing appointments for me. I ignore all others that constantly solicit me ... with fees ranging from $29.95 per month to that amount per year.

Never. I spend my advertising $$$ on the top 3 sites only. n/m
