Printer
I own a Brother 8680 DN printer. I bought it because I like a multi-function (fax, copy, scan, print) printer, but, it does not come with dual trays. Is there a printer out there that is multi-functoin and has dual tray? I've researche and can't find one. Except for those very expensive color laser printers.

Multifunctions have gotten better, but still not sold on them.
I would invest in a good dual tray monochrome laser printer that has the speed you can live with 32 PPM or 55 PPM or ??? Keep your multifunction for back up and faxing, copying etc..
A good monochrome laser usually has the lowest maintenance costs you can find...if u go to color you will get eaten alive with associated costs even if u never use color print...I found this out the hard way.
Good luck.

Thanks Jim. Here is another question: if the SS wants to fax over the docs, can that printer accept faxes?

if they want to fax docs, have them fax to your Notary Rotary fax numbr and then just print from the scan. ;-) way more efficient than using a fax machine--usually their toners are less efficient and more expensive.

I have been using Lexmark Optra series printers for years. Currently I'm using a T640, with 3 drawers. It's a 40 PPM printer, and the per page cost is for toner is less than .005 cents, using LD Product toners. You can get paper for about $3.50 per ream from Costco/Office Max, etc, so the paper is about .007, bringing the total to .012 for paper and toner. The printers do cost about $650 and the extra 500 sheet drawer is about $240. The Lexmarks are dependable and really do a good job. Hope this helps. If you need an dealer for really good deals, send me a PM.

I agree with Jim. Keep the MFC for back up , faxing, scanning, etc. Dual tray laser printers are relative cheap these days and they are workhorses. Other than getting jammed every once in a while I've worked my Dell to death and it's still churning out the loan docs. I'd like to know if anyone has a recommendation for the cartridges.

Carlos you can use the the side multipurpose tray as your second tray, just go to the settings and have the printer choose the other size paper. Where are you located?

Actually Carlos, I have a Brother MFC 8220. It didn't come with 2nd tray. However, 2nd tray was available for separate purchase. Very simple to install and works like a dream. You may want to inquire if a 2nd tray is available for your MFC.

Thanks. I called Brother to find out if my printer is 2nd tray friendly and was told NO. I would like to know how you accept faxed docs on a printer with dual tray if it doesn't have a fax function?

Carlos, Brother was wrong about the second tray
It's called the LT-5300 .
Check the specs "Optional Paper Capacity" @ this link: http://www.brother-usa.com/MFC/modeldetail.aspx?PRODUCTID=MFC8680DN&tab=spec
Can be found on ebay, with a current price of $79: http://cgi.ebay.com/Brother-Paper-Tray-LT-5300-/250712905545?pt=Printer_Accessories&hash=item3a5fa75749

Re: Carlos, Brother was wrong about the second tray
I use a HP2015dn dual tray printer. The extra cost about $160 or so. I had to have a techie set it up for me. Works works like a dream. I buy replacement cartridges form Amazon.com. We receive free shipping and no tax added. My techie said to always use HP cartridges and the printer will last longer.
