Still waiting for the docs

I suppose have a 7:30pm signing and it is 7 o' clock still no docs. Tried to email to the TC but no reply.
It is so frustrating.

I had the opposite experience tonight. Got docs, but no return call from borrower. This co doesn't pay a print fee if you don't confirm first, so no go. (And of course, turned one down that I could have done soon after I accepted this one.) Some days, that's just the way it goes. But I agree, still frustrating...

The Notary can only do their part by calling.....the borrower must do their part by responding and if the borrower fails to respond, that's outside of the Notary's control. As a last ditch effort (after leaving numerous voice messages), I will show up at the appointed time. In my experience, those borrowers that did not respond are waiting for me and ready to sign. And they'll mention that they did receive all 42 of my voice messages.

Though I know "showing up" doesn't work for the rural, desert, or mountain community Notary....or the ones in the heavy metropolitan areas with toll roads, bridges and customary gridlock traffic.

I'm with you on that - once in a while. However, before that happens, I want to know that I'm at least going to get paid for printing the docs, let alone a trip fee. If the client says to go ahead and try - and that they'll pay me if the BO is a no-show, I'm there with docs in hand and a smile on my face (at least when I first ring the bell. Wink) This person never tried to reach me - and I think I would have heard something from someone if they were expecting me and I just didn't show. (I did leave my number with them in several places.)

I was in touch with this ss owner all evening. We didn't even know for sure if the borrower was aware he needed to sign tonight. That's the part that really frustrates me. The LOs are so eager to get the documents signed (or too lazy or too busy) that they don't even make sure that the BOs are going to be available (or they assume the loan is the focal point of the BOs life, like the LOs commission is to them, and they're just standing by with their life on hold.)

I get that they don't always know when docs will be ready, but I can't count the number of times I confirm with a borrower who is surprised that they're supposed to be signing that day. With nearly everyone wired with multiple instant communications options, I see very few excuses for this. (Although one time a borrower didn't return my call because he was having emergency brain surgery. That was a pretty good excuse! However, he did manage to arrange for someone to contact me to let me know.)

I do the same thing.....I'll leave a message to confirm the appointment and ask the borrower in my message to confirm. If he/she does not return the call, before I print and head out to the closing, I'll call one last time. Almost always, someone is there to answer the phone and we can proceed as scheduled. Even on the rare occasion I do that and still no answer, I'll head out to the closing and the borrower is usually there . Only a few times did I go out and the borrower was a total no-show. I was still paid a trip and printing fee.

Earlier this year, I went to a closing and was delayed by heavy traffic and construction. I called the borrowers several times but ended up leaving voice mail messages. I still went ahead. Got there and the borrowers were there smiling and ready to close. I casually asked whether they got my messages. They said yes.....however, they did not have caller ID and were dodging the telemarketers and bill collectors so they did not answer the phone. They figured that since I was on my way, there was no need to return my call.

ALRIGHTY.........

I've never seen a month like I've seen this month with the banks. Chase and BOA have been just ridiculous. Docs have been regularly late, Late night closings, last minute closings,
borrowers not being called when closing is delayed, I had one where they were suppose to close at 8am. I called them at 8pm as that is what time the job was ordered with me, didn't get to their house till 10pm. come to find out borrowers wife is at work for another hr. went to her workplace at 10pm to get her signatures. This kind of BS has happened so much this month it's unbelievable and several title company's team leads and managers have all told me, it's just been awful. Closing last night, docs didn't show up from Wells Fargo, so closing delayed till? Closing this morning for another one, no docs from Chase to Title and the story goes on and on.

if i don't have docs within 1 hour of close time i call sc and tell them i am booked back to back and if i dont have docs in 15 minutes they will have to find another notary. i only do this at end of month and have had a few cancel, a few that managed to get the docs to me and a few that coud not believe I was cancelling. At any rate, my other closings were on time and my stress level was much lower as a result.
