Well, CA is down to 186,626 Notaries....

Thanks to Linda's post below, as it turns out CA's SOS, as of Oct. 7th, has published a list of the state's active notaries.

It's not a search form. You have to download the compressed file for the list. They say the list is updated daily.

For reference, the numbers of notaries in recent years, as taken from the handbooks published each year:


2005: 236,000
2006: 260,000
2007: 288,000
2008: 290,000
2009: 260,000
2010: 225,000

Now, according to the zip file I downloaded tonight, we're down to 186,626. If my math is right, that's now 36% drop in almost 3 years.

Watch out! Certain ones will be on here saying that

there needs to be another 50K notaries RIGHT NOW....CA is crying out for notaries.
