e-signings
How many of you are using netbooks rather than full laptops to do e-signings? Do you have to have enough ram and hard drive space to have Adobe Acrobat or Acrobat Reader installed in order to do an e-signing? I've seen netbooks on eBay that run Vista Starter or XP starter. Are those programs sufficient enough to do an e-signing? Some netbooks I see have only 2gb hard drives. That doesn't seem like enough to have any programs installed at all besides the operating system.

Buy a full function laptop. The price difference is not worth the performance shortcomings. If you are looking to economize, then try here:

Many to choose from.

I have both a netbook and a regular laptop. I much prefer the laptop - the netbook, while fabulous in all ways, simply is too small for most people. Older folks, especially, have a hard time seeing the smaller screen. I do use it for visits to Starbucks to sit and sign up with signing companies. I have a Dell mini and a Toshiba. The Toshiba has a much better keyboard.
I just bought a Dell 15.6" laptop for $449, then $100 for Windows Office at Best Buy. I love it!! (Four people in the family and each has a laptop, at least one per person)

I agree that in so many ways you are much better off with a regular laptop. Speed is essential so when you are shopping keep that in mind. Also, be careful of Windows 7. Although I like it a lot there is a lot of software that is not compatable with the 64 bit Windows 7.

When you are doing esigning you are connecting to the main server of the bank(s). You are not downloading anything onto your laptop/notebooks. Just have enough memory to make the esigning run faster.

Shauna, what is the model of your Dell laptop. I want to go online and shop for new laptop today. I have a Dell studio with 17 inch screen, which I love. I think I paid $749 for it last year at after Christmas sale.

It's a Dell Inspiron 15.6". Really a lovely computer that moves very quickly.
http://www.dell.com/us/p/inspiron-15/pd (and on Dell.com it's only $399 plus you can get your choice of colors!).
Looks like it's $399 at Best Buy, too. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Dell+-+Inspiron+Laptop+/+Intel%26%23174%3B+Pentium%26%23174%3B+Processor+/+15.6%22+Display+/+2GB+Memory+/+250GB+Hard+Drive+-+Obsidian+Black/9947136.p?id=1218199527666&skuId=9947136&st=dell inspiron&contract_desc=null
I guess I'm going to BB today to price match.

Just a small tip from experience
(6 Dells in the house - 4 desktops, 2 laptops) - if you go through Dell, buy through their business side - their business side tech support is outstanding - they're personal side tech supports absolutely stinks.

Re: Just a small tip from experience
Very true - hubby has a biz computer via Dell and the service he gets is outstanding. I recently signed up with Bancserv and got their EC Purchasing, which offers discounts from Dell. However, I needed a computer immediately since mine died and I had to print so I ran to Best Buy, got one and left. Otherwise, I would've done the EC Purchasing from Dell online's biz section.

We bought an Acer from Costco. It works well when we travel.
