Got it!

They found the shoe. Somehow, it was on a shoe rack in their laundry room. I picked it up this morning, and it looks fine. Thanks for all the interesting comments

Easy. Goes with the single sock you take from the dryer.
Someone once told me that when you die and go to Heaven, all of your missing ,
single socks are there waiting for you.
