NNA LOST MY CERTIFICATE OF AUTHORIZATION!!!!

Do not use them to get your stamps!!!! I started my notary testing, fingerprinting etc. went and got my bond so that I could be ready to start doing loan signings on the day of my new commission. I sent my letter via certified mail on the 15th of September they received it on the 17th and my letter is lost. I will NEVER GO THROUGH THEM AGAIN!!!! When I called they don't know their right hand from their left some of them are very rude and seem to think this is funny.

Sorry...very stressed here!

Susan

Sorry to hear about your misfortune with the XYZ. Most of us learned not to trust them a while ago. I'm gathering you need that certificate in order to get your stamp. As far as I know, I've only had to fax mine to NotaryRotary as proof of my commission in order to get a stamp. I'm in VA, so the law is probably different from CA. NotaryRotary has a 24-hour turnaround on stamps. Order one day & receive the next. Maybe you can call them about this situation.
Good luck.

Marilyn, in California we have to have a letter of authorization from the SOS in order to have a seal manufactured. In reality, we can order them, and they can be made for us... but the company can't release it to us until they have the letter from the SOS. The reason is because they have to imprint a sample of each seal made on the letter and mail it back to the SOS's office for their records. This way, the SOS has an example/sample seal of anything we've done.

If you haven't already,

Contact the SOS's office. They will get you another one fairly quickly, budget problems and all. If you can, re order your supplies from NR.
A good reading of several notary forums reveals problems others have had.

Good Luck.

Without a doubt, get your supplies here though NotRot... they have the best customer service around.

Definitely call the SoS's office and explain the situation. Cancel your NNA order, get your money and order from here.

And I would be sure to tell them why it is that you are needing a new one - and who it was that lost your Certif. of Authorization... Sheesh!! That's inexcusable. I'd be concerned about having that "out there" somewhere. If that got into the wrong hands, someone else could have a notary stamp made with your name on it. [Makes me wonder if that's how some of the fraud we've been reading about takes place.] Not trying to make you nervous, but I think you just want to be sure to go on record with this with the SOS office.

Janet has a good idea. I would send a letter to the SOS via certified mail. Remember...CYA!

You might also consider consulting an attorney, if you end up with loss of income because of the lost certificate. Is there any chance the SOS can overnight you a duplicate?

In order for the SOS to send you another Certificate, you will have to request it in writing. Go onto their website and it will state the proper protocol. Once they receive, it usually takes about a week. Then you can send it on to Harry.

There are worse things...

...than having NNA lose your Certificate of Authorization.

They could have, for example, persuaded you to join the organization.

Re: There are worse things... :D

Yes, Hugh ...that was a good one!!!! LOL!!! The only thing I like of the NNA's are there stamps and I really fell for the Hot pink one...my mistake! Now I have none!!!! I did call the S.O.S. & I did tell them that the NNA lost my letter of authorization. I wanted to know how long it would take to get another one. She said it would take about a week. So I planning on purchasing my stamp here on Notary Rotary. I cannot believe how screwed up the NNA is. They said everyone makes mistakes... well it's been 11 days and they do not know what happened to my letter. I sent it certified. Great help that was! They said it must have got lost in their mail room. Well....how may I ask do you lose a certified letter in a mailroom???? Don't you just have mail in there? Sorry...still fed up. Very upset that everyone there seems to have a smirk in their voice (if you can have a smirk in your voice! LOL!)....I will write a letter to the S.O.S.

Hot pink stamp or no hot pink stamp... I will NEVER go through the NNA again!!

There...stepping off my soap box now... ;-/

Susan
