Nations Direct

Nations Direct is notorious for offering ridiculous fees. Of course, if they can't find someone to meet their ridiculous fee, they will in fact get your fee miraculously approved....however, if you take the signing you will endure an unending stream of phone calls from them babysitting your every move.
So...now that I'm finished with their signing, I think I'll start calling them. Something like this...
1st phone call: "Hi...did you get my email that I am finished with my signing?"
2cnd phone call (10 minutes later) : "Hi...just checking that you sent my information for the signing to accounting!"
3rd phone call (10 more minutes)..."Hi...can you tell me when I can expect my payment for the signing?"
4th phone call...."Hi...can you confirm my address so I can be sure to receive payment?"
And ANY other ridiculous thing I can think of to call and ask them.

Yes...I understand that. I had forgotten why I quit taking assignments from them. Now I remember!!!

Just for giggles I took on an assignment from them. Sure enough, I felt like I was in kindergarten. They're calling to confirm you confirmed the signing w/the borrower; you received documents; you're at the signing table; giving instructions on how documents should be signed; confirming that BOs signed docs, and the list goes on and on and on.

This could violate federal guide lines for an "Independent Contractor" and make you a defacto employee, which would entitle you to various benefits such as unemployment ins. etc.

The answer is simple, Yuma,

Don't take their calls.

Easy as sledding down a snowy slope.

Yeah, you sure taught them a lesson! The owners are laughing all the way to the bank, with your money in their pocket, while their below minimum wage help must field all your prissy calls.

I will work for them when they're desperate and meet my fee. We here on NR are a tiny percentage of what's out there for NSAs. Us not taking work from them won't change a thing. I don't call them before, or during, just after. If they call me, I just don't answer the phone.

I think her list of possible phone calls was very humorous, I'm sure that was her intention. Made me laugh!

They met my fee for scheduling an EOM closing on the road. I didn't look them up in SS since I was driving. Apparently after scheduling and having me print docs and then calling me to be sure I printed them, and how many attachments did I print and am I sure I know about the faxbacks I printed and arrived (after confirming with the borrower) at the closing only to find a cheaper notary at the table signing papers (she'd arrived early). Nations never bothered to call me back to let me know they'd found someone else (which I'd be relieved at). They're going in my phone book as a "DO NOT ANSWER." Never, never again! Honestly, once I saw all of their faxback requirements on it, I knew there was no way I'd be making any profit off of this one, so I would have been thrilled to give it back to them, but it didn't seem like the right thing to do on a Sunday. BLECH. Lesson learned. Now let's see if I get my print fee paid.
