New To The Game
I am a new notary for the State of MIssissippi and I want some ideas of the informaton needed to put on my profile. In addition, what is the procedure to contact companies to be added to their list?

I would say, you need to spend your first two years being "just a notary" - learn your laws inside out. Only after becoming a "notary expert" should you venture into the signing agent field... what's left of it anyway. This is really a bad, bad time to be getting into this business. I hope you didn't fall for the NNA's "get rich quick" scheme, because even those who have been in this industry for many years are struggling to make ends meet and most of them have had to get regular full time jobs.

Start with Msg # 33325 n/m

google signing companies and go to their web sites and register. It is unlikely you will get far but it only takes a few closings to get your foot in the door. The NNA certification process will at the very least make you familiar with typical docs and processes. Have a dual tray printer and a good fast internet service. As mentioned earlier, learn your state notary laws inside and out. If you live in a smaller non metro area, you may just get a chance. If your in a metro area, I doubt you will ever get a job as the competing notaries will always get the calls first. Good Luck and don't quit your day job.

Welcome, Bridgett. After reading through 33325 you might
look at some of the profiles of others in your area. You can get some ideas but don't copy. I would suggest that you know what being an NSA is all about before you start marketing & signing up with companies. The instruction sheets we get these days clearly indicate there are a lot of notaries out there that don't know what the H#$L they're doing. I'm not saying that applies to you. Do your homework & when you're ready you can search companies in SC & focus on the one's with at least 4 stars. This is a very tough time in this business. If you're prepared to start at the bottom & build slowly, you will be fine. Good luck.

In addition to starting to read Msg #33325 , which will give you many tips on what to expect, someone mentioned going to SC, which is the blue tab above: Signing Central. When you get there, look at the companies listed, ignoring the 1 & 2 stars as they are the worst (on scale of 1-5). Usually there is a link to the companies listed and will take you there directly.
You must market yourself extensively....but you will have seen that while you were reading the above thread. The Orange Search button is your friend, as is Google. If you have a question, first use the Orange search button, asking for example, printers. It will bring up many conversations about printers. Whatever question(s) you may have have been answered and/or discussed at one time or another. Then if you don't quite understand, ask again here, but at least you will have done your homework
Reading here is a great learning experience....it is free for the taking. You will, however, get a lot of grief if you just expect to be handed everything all at once. This is your learning curve - do your research, good luck and enjoy. Welcome also.
