Phone Talk - MyTouch 3g Slide - anyone?
Thinking about upgrading from my "old" MyTouch (bought last year in August) for the new. My main purpose is because I want the better camera.
For my purposes, I can't beat TMobile's price. To have the same with AT&T it would cost 25-30 more a month.
I have cast an eye at the IPhone, too, but don't want to make the switch out of my 11 year relationship with TMobile. A couple of things I like about TMobile's smart phones don't come free with IPhone.
And, it is rumored that the IPhone may actually go to TMobile sometime in the future.
Any comments on the MyTouch Slide?

I do not advise anyone to use AT&T for mobile services-high prices, things added to bill they will admit are not yours but then they will not adjust off (said they can only make a set amount of adjustments for a customer per year even if it is an AT&T mistake), charged me for 4 lines when I only had 3, may get a nice person at customer service but most of the time you got someone that was very rude and would yell.

Brenda.....can't take about the brand (always depends on capacity in the local market) but i did find something interesting when lookin up your area about coverage. You might find this interesting, I did for my area.
http://www.deadcellzones.com/ If you select the different carriers you'll see different deadzones.
As far as customer service, those people are NOT local and are not always employees of ATT or any "other" carrier for that matter. I remember seeing that same person in a call center with three different phones on her desk, each labeled with a different carrier, she answered the phone according to what label was on it!

MyTouch 3g Slide info or experience?
Looking for information on the phone, not service coverage, although, good to know!
The reports on dead cells is not much difference. Thanks!

my husband has that one and its great!
You can use the slide out qwerty keyboard or use the touch screen. T-mobile has great deals, but since I'm having so many many issues with my HD2 (the bastard child of the EVO) I'm thinking about getting the Sprint EVO.

I bought one a couple of months ago and love it. There is an application on the android market that is great for tethering also.

After all that, I am test driving a Samsun Galaxy.
This is a droid, and has a lot of the features of the MyTouch, but the processor is half again as powerful/fast. I have two weeks to change my mind.
Since I use my phone as a Kindle, this is absolutely dreamy. Larger screen for less "page" turning.
I am not necessarily a fan of THE DROID, but I guess I like the features that Iget from them, plus the tethering in emergencies plus the low budget minutes/data comparatively speaking.
Thanks all. If this doesn't do it for me, I am going back for the Slide.

This is a subject that could drive you nuts. There are so many choices and opinions. And we all know about opinions. CNET seems to like.

I have the Droid X. Does everything but ring loud enough so I don't miss work. Also all the new high tech phones leave something to be desired in call clarity. Ah, the good old days where phones were just phones. Droid X has 8 megapixel camera. But to tell the truth my camera is better. One of the gazillions reviews I read on Android phones (etal) said that nothing is going to give you a camera as good as a dedicated digital camera. Everything has tradeoffs. Good luck with whatever you get.
BTW, as you see I don't know how to add a link here (above) Sorry.

I have not tested out the Galaxy 5 megapixel pix yet, but
Tethered easily with JuneFabrics.com tethering software.
Faster than the 3G My Touch - Good.
Camera - Jury's still out. The MT 3G Slide has a pretty good flash / camera. I carefully thought over the larger screen, vs the flash on the camera. I wanted a faster processor + larger screen size over photography...I think.
I will get out there and do a little picture taking here in the next few days and see if I'm going to miss the flash.
I never intended to use a phone for anything over a phone. But, now, I'm hooked. I use it as a gps, email notifier, easy camera, texting and being a part of the kids' "moments", weather, and Kindle. I get my money's worth with my smart phones...and, I have to admit, I really do enjoy it.
(Bonus: Just as I got it going, I was surprised with moments-old pictures (that I could see in high def-like resolution) of our newest addition to the family, "Blake". She came into the world at a petite 9 lbs 11 ozs. Her mommy is my dear niece. Amazing to me that we can have all that.)
