Power Link
Division of Service Link handling REO. Had a signing and was not told about 33 pgs of fax backs required. At a location that had a very old fax that was extremely slow, babysat the fax then still had to make the last drop for UPS 15 miles away...... Got all of that accomplished. A call from them for another signing so I told scheduler if there are fax backs, I charge extra as I do with Service Link. She told me they cannot do that and that Service Link does not do that. I told her they sure do and she continued to insist that they don't. She told me she would check if there were any faxbacks and call me if there were not. She also told me I charge the highest in the area for cash deals, (these were both lender deals), and that others only charge $45.! I told her that Service Link has always paid me my price and that it is actually lower than what I get from others. She never did call me back for that signing. I know others out there work for Service Link and have seen that they get their price. I just cannot see printing the docs, driving the 15-20 miles each way, faxing, and rushing to UPS (as they always seem to schedule these at days' end) for $45. for a cash deal. Any input here?

Charge what you want and they will pay what they want. If you are not the only game in town you probably will not hear from them or ServiceLink very often. They generally only call me when less expensive alternatives are not available. Good luck.

Cheep cheep
From what I've been reading on NR recently, the latest SS putdown is "you charge the highest in your area." This now ranks up there with: "Can you help me out with this?" which is code for "we're cheap." This newest slam seems to be code for: "You are a stupid notary if you think anyone will meet your fee and you're lucky we're even calling you and if you want to play ball with the big boys you better get real." All the while they're going "wink wink" to their fellow schedulers. Do you think they go to school to learn these techniques?
Anyway, I know of several notaries who won't get out of bed for less than $50 - let alone do all the printing, faxing and UPSing (15 miles away? 30 miles RT? Yikes!) that Power Link expects. But , as always, there are plenty of notaries out there who will jump at this for $45.

Hahaha! Ok. My getting out of bed is dependent upon
which old fool the cat decides is going to fix his breakfast every morning. (see actual video film here: http://www.simonscat.com/catmando.html )
So even if you're not his victim du jour, then you're probably up by the grindy noises of the expresso machine, and once the aroma wafts up, the day is on.
As for starting the car? Unless it's local Notarial work, 50 smackers is my floor.
