Techie Help! Brother MFC-8440

I have replaced my drum and toner cartridge and anything printed from the computer
comes out ghosted and faded looking. I can make copies with no problem, but can't get a
clear print from computer. So, I've surmised it's not the toner or the drum.

Can anyone give me some ideas to try? The ink also fades really bad on the left. Would appreciate any
and all help. TIA

Did you clean the corona wire on the drum?

I'd move it, gently, back and forth a few times. This will clean it, but will also charge it. Make sure it's back to the "home" position before you put the drum back in the printer, too. Sometimes, that can cause weird problems.

Thank you Marian. Yes, I did all that. Could be the printer just seen it's final days.
It is rather old. Thank goodness I have my dual tray HP laser. Appreciate the info.

Well, that's weird.

It makes good copies but won't print from the computer? It's not printing light on that one side when copying? (shaking toner cartridge may fix that). You did power off the printer when you changed the toner and drum, right?

Well, the only thing I can think of is doing hard restart on both the computer and printer (turn completely off then on). If that doesn't work, then go into printers and uninstall then reinstall the printer. That doesn't work, make sure your preferences are correct.

Re: Well, that's weird.

Thank you GlennSmile The printer was on Toner Saver, rather than Secure Print. That solved the problem.

Re: Well, that's weird.

Super, glad you got that solved. I found that on my Brothers, rather than use toner saver mode, I set the quality to 300dpi. That saves some toner while maintaining the same "blackness".
