We have a bird named for us....
I saw the most gorgeous bird over the week-end and spent a good part of my morning identifying it - Prothonotary warbler. It is named this because "Its common name refers to Catholic notaries privileged to wear golden hoods."

It looks a lot like a goldfinch! Since I am at the northern edge of it's range, I am not so sure I would notice it as something from the goldfinch.

We have *teensy* yellow birdies here, very fast, very
chatty, and very adamant about their 'private' bird feeders - they gang up on the big Blue Jays, who are total brutes and seed-hogs as everyone knows, and as long as there are dozens of them, the Jays don't risk their little wraths.
