$60 for an edoc signing?

I have been approached to do edoc signings for $60.00!!!!! Is anyone else doing these signings for $60? Is there any way to make a profit at this rate? Are we that desperate?
If I start accepting them then they will expect it. I need the work, but.............................

Name of company offering $60 for an edoc signings?

How about naming the company so it's out there how cheap they are? I wouldn't take that signing if I was starving.

Re: Name of company offering $60 for an edoc signings?

Global called me the other day wanting to pay $60. I laughed in the poor girls ear. And asked her if she was kidding me while I was laughing. She then asked how much I would do it for and I said "nothing under $XXX". She immediately said, "oh, well I have to get authorization for that. I'll call you back if I do." Um, er, echem. That's an insult and I wouldn't work for them if they paid me twice what I get paid.

I'm hoping it's the newbies that don't know better and that are uninformed who are taking that disgusting/degrading offer. Because if it's a seasoned notary, you're a real...oops, um, er, echem...do we have to be nice in this forum? GRRRRRRRRRR

All I can say is SHAME ON YOU! Don't you know that I work 2 times less than you and make more money? And I have a steady flow of clients that don't mind paying my fee. And my fee is not that bad.

Please, if you're in NJ, don't accept anything under $XXX (you make the amount as long as it's 3 digits!) They'll pay it as long as we stick together. I've had companies say to me "oh, you're in NJ, there's a higher pay scale in NJ." WAKE UP. They'll pay if we make them.

If you're cut throating then believe me you won't be around long because you're in the red baby...and if not now, it's only a matter of time. Figure overhead/expenses and time at the very least and it's ELEMENTARY my dear...

UGH!!! DUH!!! WAKE UP!!!

I live in New Jersey. What is the rate you ARE getting for e-docs,25 miles each way, and a lot of faxing.
Want to keep the rates up so please tell me. You can answer this privately.

Absolutely not. Not for $60, $70, or ever $85. You might

research msg. 354228. It contains a lot of info about how notaries feel about low-ball fees.
I have a tip for you. You might want to rewrite your profile info. IMO it is a little weak & might contribute to your getting lower offers.

you will lose money at that rate

that is the same fee our escrow officer received 15 years ago when we bought our house - and we went to the title company for that signing! Some of the fees being offered are astonishing.

That sounds great. How's that working? Are you swamped

with business at that fee? It's all about setting a fee that the market will bear.

Works just fine for me....I routinely get $125 and UP.....and the market bears that fee.....some are just deluded in thinking it doesn't.

Even notary fees vary. You can charge $10 in CA, & it's $5

here in VA. Some states have only $1 & $2 notary fees.

Marilynn, we should NOT be basing our fees on what the

"market" is demanding! At least NOT in this business. That's absolutely ridiculous. By accepting those low ball fees, the NSA's are contributing though voluntarily and/or involuntarily with setting 'the bar' for NSA fees. The slime bag SS and TC's that also contribute to the low ball fees, are also guilty contributors.

The fees that I charge are resonable, and pretty much what I need to make a profit. Market or not, its not like we are selling real estate, perhaps you're getting confused?

We are selling services, and not property. Though in some professions fees are lowered, but mainly to attraction of potential new clients.

I agree with LKT/CA about the $125 and up fee in that the 'market' is very very wide and not at all limited. The SS and TC listed here maybe 250 to 300 are but a small FRACTION of companies that use our services.

ADVICE TO NEWBIES...MARKET YOURSELF OUTSIDE THE BOX!

So even though my EOM sucked, it doesn't mean that I'm not getting work. Don't be mistaken my dear.

I'm still very much in business and making a profit because I DO NOT SETTLE AND CONTRIBUTE TO BEING A SLAVE IN THE NSA MARKET!

Re: That sounds great. How's that working? Are you swamped

Actually, Marilynn is right! (up to a point!) I went shopping for a new car, and I
went to a dealer that that had the model I wanted. We drove around, and I allowed
as how I might be interested. They made me an offer, and I countered with what I thought
I could afford without raising my notary fees to 800 per sig. They actually had the cojones
to turn me down! That really made me think about a lot of people here who get a "BID" for a
notary job and think they HAVE to take it. BULL. Make YOUR offer. If you can negoiate a little,
do so; otherwise you are just taking the offer that they are suggesting. If you can't make a buck
at their offer, why pay them to work. THINK!

Rick

I have always negotiated, never accepted just what was

offered, but know after 5 years what fees prevail in this area. I've said it before--I can set a fee of $200, but I'd never get any work at all. Fees have to be competitive if you expect to be successful.

Never say never is my motto....

I'd would like to be more competitive, but when it comes to lowering my fees beyond the norm, that's where my competitive nature stops. I'm not one of those nsa's that are delusional in thinking that by accepting $50 fees, I'll get more work or volume, or that these fees are more beneficial than getting no fee.

This is still a very good profession to make a living with and profit. It can and is being done, as many of us are still here, in business, charging at least $125+ specifically to SS and TC's.

I'm sticking to my fees, as they are working for me. I have many advantages over my competition and will discuss those facts with any new potential clients.

I call accepting low ball prices, 'reverse price gouging', which was set by low baller SS and TC's and currently being enforced by nsa's that are scared and will gladly accept their $50-$85 fees, because the 'market' has dictated to them that this is the new norm. Utterly ridiculous!

RickinVA you were SUPRISED that the car dealership turned

your offer down? Really?

Anyway, you're right in that when we are told what certain companies offer, counter with a fee suitable for your living, NOT theirs.

That's the problem with so many on this forum that take those low ball fees, they're scared. They'd rather work for free, or the illusion of volume, rather than sticking to fees that are fair and reasonable!

But whatever, this subject is like kicking a dead horse over and over again to see if it'll move!

Well, that's $20 more than I was offered for over night docs the other week, and no, they turned me down.

Oh, wait a minute they actually said, "Our normal is $40 but we are NOT offering you that."
