I'm moving to Orange Co. and realized I have to remarket myself all over again. Does anyone have any helpful hints to make it easier?

Make sure that your website and other business/professional listings include your new address, city and county so that when some is 'googling' for a notary in that particular area you will pop up.

Notify the SOS Let your clients know. You can do this as they call you for jobs but definately contact your most frequent ones. Make changes on all you prfiles on sites like this.
I did this 5 yrs ago and it included a change in email. The only problem I had was some doc's got delivered to my old address 10 miles away. I had to go get them.

It's optional in CA...
Per our handbook, page 18:
"Upon the change of a business address to a new county, a notary public may elect to file a new oath of office and bond in the new county. However, filing a new oath and bond is optional. Once commissioned, a notary public may perform notary public services anywhere in the state. The original oath and bond must be filed in the county where the notary public’s principal place of business is located as shown in the application filed with the Secretary of State. Whether or not a county transfer is filed with the new county after the original oath and bond have been filed in the original county is permissive should the notary public move."
Basically... if she wants to file a new oath and bond, she can... but it seems a bit like a waste of time. The only reason she'd probably want to do it would be so that she could have a new seal that indicates Orange County instead of Riverside. I doubt anyone really cares, though.
I may be moving soon myself... it's not too far away, but it will be in Kern County instead of Los Angeles. I have no intention of submitting a county transfer.

Although the county does not require refiling of oath and bond, many lenders are now doing checks on notaries and their good standing in the county in which they are bonded. Just FYI, I've had lenders producing background checking on me loan by loan scenario.

Carol, welcome to the O/C, what part are you moving to?
If you have established a clientele in the desert, you will get calls from the SS and TC's you have worked for there, just be sure to let them know you will be servicing a different county. There is enough work in this county to go around, good luck!
