new notary assigned

Have you ever called a title company because documents were late arriving and been told that signing had been assigned to another notary?
Just happened to me

Only when I've made it clear

that I cannot accommodate after XX AM/PM due to scheduling conflicts.
What'd you do to Pi$$ them off?

Re: Price shopping, maybe.

No, I don't think it was price shopping. This is a company that I work for all the time. the only thing I can think of is the borrowers had a friend who is a notary and they transferred the job to him/her.
I'm puzzled.

Mistake

I called the scheduler and was told that they made a mistake and did't realize that the signing had already be assigned.
She apologized

That's the privilege that goes with retirement. You can afford to pick & choose. Smile

Retirement, or perhaps success?

I had that happen yesterday (yes, on a Sunday!). Except that they didn't have the nerve to call me and cancel me. I showed up at the signing and they'd just told the next person to tell me to go away, it was covered. (WTH!!). We'll see if I ever get my print+trip fee. It was a Sunday and I was sticking to my fees for a notoriously low-ball company. They must have kept shopping after they sent me the docs and found someone willing to do it.

lowball company = lowball character = lowball behavior...I doubt they would have paid your set fee, regardless of what your confirmation states. Your check (if you got one at all) would be in the lowball amount they only want to pay, regardless of what the confirmation says.

Nope and if I did they would be billed a cancellation fee.

I had the borrower call me to tell me they were going

to be late. Late for what?

Richmond Title assigned the closing to someone else after the original docs showed up for a Wed closing and I noticed some major mistakes on them. I notified the borrower and Richmond Title. I saved them a trip fee & a print fee (noticed it while viewing on computer prior to printing).

Docs had to be redrawn and closing scheduled for 2 days later. Borrower was so appreciative that I had saved them from wasting their time on Wed and he thought I was the SA for the assigned closing on Friday. He called me to tell me that they were running late. I called Richmond Title and asked about it. "Yeah, that was assigned to another notary"

After nearly 5 years of working for them, they had screwed me over on the last 2 signings I had accepted from them then this. I'm done. They still call, but they are unwilling to meet my new pricing for their loans and don't seem to want to accept my conditions which include signings canceled 2 hours or less before the appt Full payment is due. -- Can't understand why they don't want to meet my terms? LOL I also start my overnight 10 mile max signings base fee for them at $150 min. with Net 15.

They still call. Maybe they should think before they go price shopping and mess over someone that 99% of the time accepted their signings. They always met my $125 - $275 fee without any issues over the nearly 5 years. Richmond Title is not the same "good" company they used to be, IMO Also, Richmond Title a.k.a. FLEX Signing out of TX
