printer, AGAIN
Here I go again! Ask some of you about setting up my HP P2055dn printer a couple months ago with letter/legal trays. All of you helped me very much and got it working just fine! Now, I have purchased a new Computer and trying to get that set back up with the printer again. The print job keeps going to Tray 1, which is the Manuel feed. I do have Tray 2/letter and Tray 3/legal set up proper, however, there is a setting in the Printer Properties that is "Form to Tray Assignment". I have each Tray set proper, but the first line item says "Printer auto select:" Before, the first selection would show up as "Automatically Select". Now it only says "Not Available" in that slot. How in the world do I get that to let me "Auto Select"???? I am at my wits end! Hope I have made myself clear. thanks!!!!

start; control panel; printers; highlight your
printer; select printing preferences (to the left); paper/quality tab - choose "automatically select"

If new computer has Windows 7 and old one didn't,
you may have to ask HP to send you new driver for printer to communicate with Windows 7.
I had to do that with my Brother printer a couple of months ago when I got new Dell computer. Online Brother driver for Windows 7 didn't work properly. Dell tried then and had same results as I. Dell finally had me contact Brother directly ... and, voila!

Re: If new computer has Windows 7 and old one didn't,
I am beginning to think that may be it. I tried to download from HP, but after 2+ days sitting there almost not moving....I decided to order a disc. I have installed disc on it, and can print, but not smooth as it should. ONLY if you hold your mouth right!!! LOL Thanks to both of you and disc is on way. Hopefully this will do the trick.!!

Re: If new computer has Windows 7 and old one didn't,
Received my new 2055d two weeks ago. Disk with it had a note taped to it saying that the driver on the disk does not work properly with Windows 7. My new computer has Windows 7. While trying to set up, a choice appeared on screen, letting me go online for download of the correct driver. All works well.

Re: If new computer has Windows 7 and old one didn't,
I tried this and after 3 days waiting for the drivers to load, I cancelled and tried several times again. They just would not finish loading/installing. Do not know what the problem was. So, will get disk in day or so. Did your download work fast? My disk that came with the printer must not of been as updated as yours. It didn't ask for any addtional drivers. So anxious to get this all back in order! thanks!

Re: If new computer has Windows 7 and old one didn't,
Jae: Remember to first completely uninstall old/other driver that didn't work THEN try installing new driver.
Good luck!
