what are we being paid for?

I'm so tired of hearing that I only have to drive 8 miles or 10 miles or whatever so will I do it for $50? To the best of my knowledge it's not about how well I can drive or how far I can go and stay awake behind the wheel. Or you only have to print 30 pages so will you do it for $50. My printer is my livelihood but it's not the job. Jeez,.......

Re: Reminds me of an old joke...

This dates back to when I was a young girl and TVs had tubes... (so I guess we need to double or triple the $$...)

A family's TV goes out, so they call the repairman. He shows up, goes to the TV and opens the back. He fiddles for a bit, reaches into his tool box, changes something and then replaces the back of the TV. He says "Should be fine now. That'll be $50." The man says "$50?? You were only here two minutes and just replaced a tiny wire!!!" The repairman said "OK, that will be $.50 for the bad wire and $49.50 for knowing where to find it."

Either the ss's don't get this concept or they're hoping that we don't... Wink

That was a great analogy. Very funny.

I get these call all the time. Business is slow for me but why go in the hole. After printing, driving to the signing and the time spent, $50 is an insult!

If it's about the mileage, why do they complain if I charge more when I have to drive farther?
If it's about how many pages I print, why do they complain when I charge more for a larger package? If there is nothing to it other than mileage and printing, why don't they hire a monkey?
If there is nothing to it, why do so many of them have instructions out the yingyang and why do they threaten to dock my pay if I make this mistake or that mistake?
If there is nothing to it, why does Title make so flipping many mistakes on their end and then try to blame it on me?

I'm much more content doing general notary work. Much less stress.

Notaries are appreciated, signing agents not so much.
