FL Notary for signing document physically located in NY

I am a notary licensed in NY but am trying to have a VIN verification form signed by a Fl Notary.
The vehicle is physically located in NYC so the notary will also have to physically be here but has a FL notary.

Will someone help me.

Thanks

Huh????? Who/what has a FL notary? That statement didn't make sense (to me).

You can't get there from here - a FL notary cannot notarize in NY.

Why does this transaction require a FL notary? Where the car is has no bearing on this - what's important is where the signers are when the notarization is performed. Your notarization would be accepted by FL as long as the signers appear before you when you notarize.

Can't be done.

A Florida notary can't do anything notary-related outside the geographical boundaries of the State of Florida. And the notary can't verify the VIN unless he/she can physically inspect the vehicle.

Sorry, buddy. That vehicle needs to be brought to Florida before a Florida notary can verify the VIN.

But a NYC law enforcement offer should be able to do it

and it should still be acceptable here in Florida.

I'm not sure NYC Law Enforcement gets involved in that

stuff - not like down here where the sheriff's department does VIN Verifications. If it's like CT, if the new owner can't simply register the vehicle with a bill of sale (possibly inspection required if over a certain age) then the new owner has to go get a temporary plate and take the vehicle to the DMV where state appointed inspectors do all the verifications required.

Also, I don't recall if NY has emissions testing requirements - they probably do, but judging by the smell driving through New York, I doubt it!!...LOL Anyway, if emissions testing is required to register, he'll need the temporary plate to get the car to the emissions testing facility...

So much easier living in the south!!...Smile

Re: I'm not sure NYC Law Enforcement gets involved in that

We don't do VIN verifications here in NY. You basically just have to prove that you own the car (bill of sale is sufficient) and then pay the sales tax. Plates are issued when you register the car, and you get a temporary inspection certificate that's good for 15 days - you have to have the car inspected (including the emissions tests) during that time in order to get the real one.

Much simpler process than in other states...

Yes, but you don't get your title document when you register the car - that comes later.
