Full Name on Seal/Stamp

Just received a call asking if my full name (first, middle, last) is on my seal. Apparently, the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga is now only allowing Notaries with their full name on their seal to notarize there.

I told the caller it is unlikely she'll find a Notary with their full name on their seal as the SOS allows the notary applicant to decide how they'd like their name to read: Jane Doe....Jane E. Doe....J. Doe....J.E. Doe.....J. Elizabeth Doe.........Jane Elizabeth Doe. She said she is definitely having a problem finding a Notary whose full name is on their seal.

Wow, wonder how that's going to play out.

Oregon now requires full name on commission/stamp -

but it's how one signs the application that is one's official signature - so, thankfully, I don't have to learn to sign with my middle name - whew!

Is it your SOS that's requiring the full name or the jail system? In CA, it's this ONE detention center, not the SOS.

I just had my Oregon commission renewed and did not require my full name on stamp

I don't have mine on the seal nor do I use it to sign anything for other people.

It sounds like they'll be changing that rule soon.

Wow, a Notary with a name such as...

Alexander Frederick Snuffelupulis , would need a REAL big seal, or real small type.
Probably a security thing , so that they can run a CBC on notary prior to letting them into facility and make sure that they have the correct NP
Thought that CA SOS did that prior to issuing commission.

Re: Wow, a Notary with a name such as...

I agree with you, I know at the time I filled out my app. we were told to list our name
as we wanted to sign it each and every time and that's how it would appear on the stamp.
With that in mind I went for first and last name only. Too lazy to write three names.....
that's just me.

The Notary has to present a driver's license (or state ID) before entering the facility........the facility can run a CBC using the ID.
