Hi!
I have a problem. I did a signing for a company late January of this year and they shorted me $20. I didn't like that so I told them I wouldn't do any more work for them and to take me off their database. I don't know if this is a coincidence, but since then I have not received much work from anyone. I did about 2 signings in February and about the same in March. I used to get calls from about 7 different companies and I used to do at least 15-20 signings a month, minimum. I have an accurate record and never had a document returned. I wonder if companies post comments on notaries just as us notaries post comments about them. Does anyone know and where to go to find out? Thanks

Things are slow so I think it's just a coincidence. However, errors do happen and telling a company to remove you from their database may not be the best approach to the shortage problem. If it's a chronic problem with this or any particular company, yeah, fire 'em. Who needs to constantly chase $20/signing? If not, just get what you were shorted and watch 'em going forward.

It's a company with very low ratings. They don't really pay much to begin with. No big loss.

Firstly, don't take low paying assignments from low rated companies. Secondly, instead of blowing off a company completely, just refuse their work when they call. I have a few companies that I won't work for ever again, but they don't know that. I just always am busy with other assignments when they call. No hard feelings and you get to keep your reputation as a nice guy/gal. (they might even refer you to other companies they are chummy with)

Am I understanding this right?
If a company shorts your check, you just ignore it?? Not the way to run a business, but explains a whole lot to me as to why lousy companies make a practice of this.

Re: Am I understanding this right?
Not what I said, Lee. That's a separate issue....of course I would pursue $$...I was speaking in generalities. If a Co. does me wrong in any way, I will still seek to maintain an open dialog rather than throw out the whole relationship. Never know when, where or how they may come into play in the future.
