I am NOT advertising for BB, but they have a nice, comprehensive price-list. The prices are the same no matter where you buy the iPad.
The prices for the first generation have come down approx $100, we paid $829 for the 64gb 3G version back in Nov. Since the hubs and I were both finding reasons to use it, we purchased another one a couple of weeks ago. Verizon has them for about $100 less than any of the other retailers, we picked up a 32gb wi-fi only for $399. We figured if one of us was traveling without the other, they could take the 3G one. And if we're traveling together we will have the 3G with us.
The 3G will pay for itself in two days at any hotels that charge for wi-fi (ususally $12-
415 a day). You can get a 30 day plan for 250mg @ $14.99 or 2gb for $25. It renews monthly but you can have it not renew for up to 60 days without losing your account.
I use it all the time - even had to use it to access the court website for a tentative ruling when our server went down!
