Just do not understand some notaries
Yesterday I went to the mailbox store to drop 2 packages and just ahead of me stood this woman that I know is a notary in an adjacent town and she had a load. Curiosity of course took over and I engaged a conversation and very proudly she told me she had plenty of work with ND and FASS at 60 and 75 a pop ... asked her if this was all the LV area and she told me that she went as far as Hazleton and Quackertown and one in the Philly suburbs ...
I just do not catch it : between paper, toner and the soaring prices of gasoline (and I saw her getting in a F150) and some tolls if you have to hit 476 ... how can she make any profit that might be considered a decent profit?
Why are those notaries accepting those orders?

Because to them they only see the income
They don't fully realize the "outgo"....by the time the checks come in all they see is the deposit they make and they've forgotten the expenditures they had to make to get the job done.

It must be and they seem to forget Uncle Sam in April as well ...

Re: Because to them they only see the income
If I did $40-$50 signings for ND and FASS, and kept careful track of my exact expenses, I wouldn’t have to worry about having any tax liability come April. !

Oh yes you would Les...don't forget
You show a business loss in X number of consecutive years IRS no longer considers it a business - to them it's a hobby and they'll go back and disallow all business deductions and WHAMMO!!...back taxes, interest and penalties...

Re: Oh yes you would Les...don't forget
This is exactly right!!! And something for all those ‘hobbyist’s’ out there to think about. But not for me to worry, because if I took signings at a loss I would be out of business in a year.

This is the kind of thing that makes me boil. It's why the
rest of us aren't seeing much business come our way. I don't work for ND or FASS, but it does mean they're getting a more than fair share of what biz is out there. grrrrrr

Re: lighten up...its a joke....
A joke is when you say something indearing to someone that is funny in a nagative way. I wish more people understood that. An insult is not a jork. Your blow up the truck wish is not a joke.

Re: lighten up...its a joke....
1. What is a jork? 2. When did Cari say anything about blowing up the truck? Getting smacked in the face by the airbag is a whole lot different than getting blown up. (take it from someone who has been smacked by the airbag). Yes, I own an F-150.

Okay…I’ve sort of lost it here? I’m not sure who “Les” is or how what/how “Les was saying” is interpreted. I had no comment about trucks, (Yes I have a GMC Sierra Pick Up…. and a Subaru Forester, and a Harley Davidson MC, and my spouse has a Subaru Tribeca ) or smacking people in the face, or air bags or aid-heads. My comments were about those that take low paying assignments, and their tax ramifications.

Boggles the mind, doesn't it? So now call it a "joke,"
as if such language is "funny," or harmless.
