NNA Problems!

Has anyone else had a series of problems with the NNA. Currently they are cheating me out of $39 for a $79 credit card charge for a background check. I have had to write emails, make phone calls over and over explaining that I will not do the background check after reading through the disclosures. Today I see on my bank account they credited me with $30, not the $79 I was charged. In the past I was sent notary stamps that were defective, over-charged for items I bought from them and it goes on and on for a membership that began in 2004.

Too bad you got hooked into their bgc in the first place.

One is available here on NR for $39, and there have been threads posted here on free ones from Lexis-Nexis. Many of us learned the hard way not to trust that org. I won't give them another cent.

Re: Too bad you got hooked into their bgc in the first place.

Thank you MW/VA, I wondered if I was the only one who has had a problem with them. I have spent thousands of dollars since 2004 for defective stamps and other items that were defective. They don't return telephone calls or respond to letters asking for a refund when they charge for items that you either didn't purchase or were defective. I am furious that I made the mistake of trusting that organization. Again thank you for letting me let off steam and responding to my posting.

Best place to buy stamps and journals is here on Notary Rotary. Less expensive and better quality. I was a member of NNA my first year as a notary and then stopped renewing.

Re: Too bad you got hooked into their bgc in the first place.

Thank you all for your quick responses. I thought I was the only one who had so many problems with the NNA. I stopped going to their conferences a couple of years ago after going every year for five years. Next year I need to renew my license. Does Notary Rotary take care of that too or who do you recommend? Two times I did it through the NNA, but never again.

Thank you Notary Rotary members!

License Renewal

I just completed my required CA training with NotRot. Free, very thorough, and should make taking the State test a breeze.

Now complain to your credit card company about this

abusive behavior letting them know you will not be paying and let them intercede on your behalf for the rest of your refund.

You have to follow through - or just lie down and be a wimp. Somehow I just do not see you being a wimp.

Do 9t - we are all cheering FOR you.

Re: Now complain to your credit card company about this

Wow, I can't believe I didn't think about contacting my credit card company. I haven't done that in years but yes of course I could do that. I didn't think of that until you made me aware that it would be a way to resolve this since the NNA won't respond to my phone calls or emails. I learned a lot from all of you in the last 30 minutes of so.
Notary Rotary is fantastic. Now we don't have to just sit and take all the problems and abuse companies try to put on us, we have a forum to get assistance and support from.
Thanks so much!

Because I renewed my E&O policy on Notary Rotary, they will not allow me to correct the information on my profile with them that says my E&O has expired! When I called to ask for help updating the information, they said I could not as I had not renewed through NNA. By the way the insurance company is the same - Merchants. I will be following up on this with the VT AG and SOS.

E&O not purchased thru NNA ...

I doubt you'll get any help from your AG and SOS.

My NNA listing also states that my E&O is expired. It it not: I purchased E&O at a lesser cost by not going through the NNA.

The NNA is a PRIVATE company, which if you pay NSA section dues allows you to post information in the NNA's Signing Agent site; therefore, the NNA is not required to include information on any products that you did not purchase through them. Just like you cannot be "certified" in your NNA listing unless you go through the NNA certification process.

Have you called them directly and/or written them via certified mail? I've never had any problems with NNA and when I became a TEA through them, I inquired whether I would have to be background screened a second time for the TEA certification. They told me that I would not because I'm already a CNSA through NNA. I've not been charged for it a second time but I verified by phone prior to completing the TEA application. I also verified by e-mail and have a confirming e-mail about the matter.

If you have a confirmation e-mail about the amount to be refunded to you, you should send a copy of it (hmmmm notarized maybe) along with a letter to properly credit your account for the additional $49 you are owed requesting a full explanation as to why they are not crediting you with the full amount. Is it perhaps the balance is for some other matter or in conjunction with your NSA certification?

As an aside, I recently ordered an Everstamp that I wanted to have say, "my commission expires xxxx" so that wouldn't have to keep writing it on forms. They indicated that the entity that makes the stamps for them could not accommodate my request. They called me and told me that they would refund me the $5.95 and they have done so. No problems at all.

Might be able to get that stamp made from NotRot

GraysBooks, I recall that others have requested "special" stamps and Notary Rotary was able to accommodate the request. Just use the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of this page to email the request.

Click the Notary Supplies tab above to see the different stamp models.

And again, Welcome to NotRot!
