Just a suggestion: Develop a Profile. Read alot about

the Biz. There's tons of info to be found in the Search (Orange button) resource. It's a ton of research, as you will discover.

Learn all you can about your state's Notarial Laws. If your state offers one, study the Handbook for Notaries Public.

Second, as far as becoming a Remote Closer as an NSA, for lack of a better description, it appears you have another challenge to overcome - and the life of Remote Closers is all over this site, drama included.

My hope is you have a stream of income while you enter this Profession, as the learning curve is substantial.

Best of luck, Ms Delfin.

Good advice from Susan. BTW, you didn't say if you were also new to this business, but from your question, I'm going to assume that you are. I certainly hope that you've done some homework about this field or that you have other income. Your area was very hard hit by the mortgage meltdown and the housing crisis and there are signing agents all over the place who are now doing something else or are trying to.

If you've already had training so you know what to do with loan documents (that goes waaay beyond being a notary), then your next task is to try to find some business. If you haven't, then you should before you even think about doing loan signings. There's an excellent course available from this site.

As for finding business, Signing Central is a good place to start. But be aware that there are some companies that take a very long time to pay, or pay very poorly (you should read up on this topic, too), and some that simply won't pay you at all. Like Susan inferred, read, read, read, read... This website is a storehouse of information, but no one is going to serve it up to you - especially in this market. You have to go dig for it.

Best of luck! Business has been slow even for many of the very experienced here, so you are entering at what could be considered a difficult time - unless you want to ease into it slowly... Wink

And you are getting into this business... why?

Go through the last few weeks of threads. You will find that not many notaries are getting any work right now. Too many signing agents and not enough work.

If you are getting into this business to make money, I would suggest you explore other arenas.

Don't quit your day job! Read the posting before this one. $ 50.00 ???? If you did that signing you would end up making about $ 6.00 an hour. Go to MacDonalds they are hiring... You would make more with less hassel..

Evidently enotary you have never worked in the fast food industry!! Smile That's all the fast food industry is is hassle!!! Smile Not that $50.00 is acceptable for a closing either.... just saying I respect those workers that get me a cheeseburger to the drive up window in a matter of minutes! I was a manager for another big fast food place for a short time and it really is like slavery for those people!
